Looking For A Unique Brick and Timber 2-Bedroom Loft? 2300 W. Wabansia In Bucktown

This 2-bedroom duplex up loft in the Clocktower Lofts at 2300 W. Wabansia in Bucktown has been on the market since September 2012.

It has some unique features.

It has 25 foot timber ceilings and a wall of skylights/windows on the second level that let a ton of light into the unit.

The second floor has a bedroom and a den.

The kitchen has granite counter tops and white appliances.

There’s exposed brick and hardwood floors.

The loft has central air, washer/dryer in the unit, parking and a 15×5 deck off the living room.

It’s listed at just $9,000 above the 2004 purchase price.

Are some Bucktown prices stuck in 2004?

Grace Volk at Baird & Warner has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. I remember looking at these in the mid 90s. I was making less than 30K and living from paycheck to paycheck. I don’t think I would have even qualified for a mortgage especially since i didn’t have anything for a down payment.

    A decade later however…:D

  4. I’m guessing that there is a Halloween hangover? Was it too many candy bars and a hard sugar crash like my daughter or was it too many vodka pumpkin juice cocktails last night?

  5. Seems like an unusual choppy space. Like the light in the winter but it must make it hard to cool in the summer. 23 foot tall ceilings and a huge skylight facing south or west could be tough.

Walk of shame from some featured property of Crib Chatter past?

  7. I toured this unit in my home search about a month ago. It’s not a true 2 bedroom– the 2nd bedroom is on the main floor and has no walls. Does having no walls constitute as a bedroom?

  9. Nice pricing strategy — Price too high, subtract 20, add 10.
This looks more like a rental property to me. Perhaps converted 10-15 years ago and nothing has been done since.

  11. I’m looking for something like this, but it has to be larger — we have a lot of stuff… Anyway it’s a little roughly appointed, but the ceiling height and light are very nice. Two of these units combined would be great.
