The Historic Andrew Rebori Florsheim Mansion Returns: 1328 N. State Parkway in the Gold Coast

We last chattered about this 5-bedroom historic house at 1328 N. State Parkway in the Gold Coast in 2010 and 2011.

See our August 2011 chatter here.

Built in 1938, the house, known as the Florsheim Mansion, was designed by Andrew Rebori and then added onto by Bertrand Goldberg in the 1950s.

There are actually two separate townhouses with a courtyard and a large galley kitchen (designed by Goldberg) connecting the structures.

The listing says there are lake views from the living room and master bedroom.

It has a 2-story family room and renovated baths.

It also has a 2-car garage on a smaller than standard 18.6×125 foot lot.

Watch an older interesting video tour of the house with the owners describing its special features here.

This house has already been under contract once this year. Will it finally sell in 2013?

Michael Rosenblum at Koenig & Strey has the listing again. See the pictures here.

  1. Wow, I make that half of the pictures that show the patio, a zebra skin run or stuffed bull. Pretty impressive. Seems like a nice property but there should be a lot more pictures of different rooms, for real.

  2. Too narrow…this should be annexed to the one of the houses next door.

  3. Lake Views from living/master bedroom? Thats like saying my place has lake views! (it does if you stick your head off my balcony and look down the street you can see a sliver of lake lol)

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is even any sliver of visible lake from the rooftop here!

  6. You would think there would be a discount on the price for this neighborhood considering the increase in wildings this early in the season

Front of the house looks almost straight down banks to the lake, so, not quite the same. can ‘see’ the lake even in streetview.

  11. Yeah I didn’t see that, but with leaves on trees, I doubt how much of the lake you can actually see. Probably not much, although I suppose it isn’t *exactly* false advertising

Hence the scare quotes on ‘see’. I agree it isn’t gonna be much of a view.

  13. Fell out of contract quickly….I wonder whether it was over an inspection issue…

Not my style at all! Even if you remove all the furnishings (which go when it sells) you are still paying over $2M for an awful lot of glass block which I think belongs in basements at most.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tourist or non-local North of McFadden’s on State.

I now feel suitably chastised– I guess I’ve been reading too many of HH & Lesko’s posts.

  17. no one seems to have commented on this, but it seems obvious (at least to me) that this place was constructed in the place of a driveway?? Basically an approx 20 foot wide space between two older buildings.

The location is highly desirable (though wouldn’t appeal to everyone), and the pedigree of the architects, etc.. Not sure if those criticizing the glass blocks realize those are a hallmark of the style/design that was extremely novel and cutting edge at the time this was built.

I agree that if this gets to the $1.8 M level, there will be an interested buyer(s).

no worries no fear pushing or tin foil hat stuff from the groove. just the occasional “are you kidding” and “who in the F would pay 300k for an apartment by mozart park” by the groove.

oh and the random “bucktown sucks”.

yeah, all it’s missing is the penis sculpture from A Clockwork Orange. That animal head on the wall is a pean to Baphomet. These satanic people aren’t even hiding anything any more, watch the Grammy’s. It’s all in the vigliantcitizen website.

  22. JAH, I realize glass block was part of the design and was cutting edge at the time. That still doesn’t mean I have to like it though, especially for $2M.

I haven’t had time to follow CC recently. Did bob and hd ever resolve their last contest? Or are they, again, both shy bc they think the other will win.

Bob won by a foreskin and HH ridiculed HD and told him it “served him right for buying into the Jewish manipulation of ruining gentile childrens beautiful penisis with circumcisions”.
