5-Bedroom Lincoln Park House Reduces and is Now Just $425,000: 637 W. Schubert

We last chattered about this 5-bedroom single family home at 637 W. Schubert in Lincoln Park in July 2013.

See our prior chatter here.

It had been on and off the market at prices above $500,000 before re-listing for $499,000.

Some of you were surprised it hadn’t sold yet.

It’s still available and has reduced another $74,000 to $425,000.

What’s the catch?

If you remember, it was built in 1876 on a smaller than average size lot of 27×52.75.

There’s no room for a garage or parking of any kind.

One side of the house is also on the unusual “street/alley” that is Geneva Terrace which leads to the enclave of million dollar homes that we have chattered about before (see that chatter here.)

It is being sold “as-is” as a teardown (in fact, it is listed both as a house and as a piece of land on the MLS.)

The listing says it has RT4 zoning.

Most of the listing pictures are of the exterior of the house although there are a couple of the interiors.

3 of the 5 bedrooms are on the main floor with two on the second floor.

Will someone take a chance when it gets into the $300,000s?

Maribel Selva at Coldwell Banker still has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. I’m at a loss as to what to do with this. The lot is so small. The greatest value is to the neighbor in back or next door. One of them should buy it and then sell the combined lots.

  2. I think the lack of comments for recent entries confirm how clunky and un-user friendly the new site is, and should serve as more proof that the site needs to return to the old format. Sabrina?

Sorry. The site isn’t returning to the old format. The old format was unstable.

  4. You do you. As a follower, I’ve lost interest with the way the site is now configured.

  5. Hi Sabrina I know you need to move it into a new format, and change is pretty hard to accept for most people.
With that being said, I think some tweaking would help. It seems more challenging now to view properties, and leave feedback. I would love to see both of those items simplified.
I appreciate everything that you’ve done, you’ve done some excellent work. The site seems to be headed in the right direction, it’s just not ready yet.

The old site was so simple and easy, and I think that’s what everyone misses.

  6. One working thing that was broken, and basic element of a blog, is the ability for readers to scroll down one page to see some recent articles. Now I can’t do that, or I can only see four editor’s picks, or perhaps those are the four most recent, but I have no idea.
