Lake Views in the Middle of Printers Row: A 2-Bedroom at 600 S. Dearborn

600 s dearborn

This 2-bedroom in the Transportation Building at 600 S. Dearborn in Printers Row recently came on the market.

It is an 18th floor southeast corner unit with views of the Lake and the cityscape.

The unit has loft-like ceiling heights at 11 feet but doesn’t sell itself as a loft. The bedrooms are enclosed.

It has wide plank dark hardwood floors.

The listing says the kitchen and bath have been rehabbed. The kitchen has cherry cabinets, granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

It has a washer/dryer in the unit and wall air conditioning units.

As is common in Printers Row, there’s no parking with this building but there are several rental garages just a block away.

Will the lake views and walkability of this unit lead to a quick sale?

Thomas Bezanes at Jameson Sotheby’s has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. I don’t understand the layout. Does the 2nd BR has a window? Where is the den?

BTW, this is a good example of how furniture (better yet staging) can help. Due to the furniture the ugly window units are much less visible.

A small side note complaint is: What’s up with that hideous glass separator in the shower? Whoever invented that should be put into design hall of shame.

  2. I really like the feel of this, however the photos are a bit disjointed without a floorplan to see how the bedrooms layout.

The taxes and assessments make this one a pretty interesting listing for those who don’t mind being in this neighborhood.

  3. This building has a lot of spalled brick, which of course permits water penetration. I’ve always thought the owners were in for a large special assessment some day.
