Vintage Beauty in Lincoln Park: 2523 N. Burling

I just can’t help it.  I’m a sucker for inlaid wood floors and stained glass. None of the new construction comes close to matching the older graystones.

2523 N. Burling in Lincoln Park was built in 1896. Most of the original features still remain, including the woodburning fireplace.

  2. Sabrina, I love your site for featuring places like this. I’m with you- there is nothing built since WW2 that can possibly compare to what was built before 1935. You could tear down 95% of all the stuff built since WW2 and we wouldn’t lose a thing thereby.

This place is beautiful to begin with, and absolutely irreplaceable. The skills that went into to building places like this have mostly died out, at least here in this country.

On top of it, whoever rehabbed the place did a great job. LOVE THOSE BATHROOMS- the dark-tiled one is exactly what I have in mind for the 20s vintage condo I am contemplating.

Thanks for featuring this place. Wish I could afford it- I can’t imagine it selling for less than $450K.

I think this will sell at or near list fairly quickly.

  4. i agree with everyone above….

the one, minor quibble…the old english look for kitchens is a tad depressing. but alas the kitchen is too new to justify a gut replacement.

  6. It takes a large bath for such dark tile to work… but when it works, it is gorgeous.

    It looks great here.
