Coolest Crib: I want my own private pool!

Every once in awhile a property comes along that is just plain cool.  This is just such a property.

It’s also brilliantly marketed by Jennifer Ames at Coldwell Banker.  There is no clutter seen in any of the photos.  And the nighttime pictures of the pool highlight the drama.  This is what you do if you’re trying to sell an expensive loft that is nearly at Western Avenue.

Without further ado, one of the coolest cribs I’ve seen in Chicago in the last few months.

I’d buy it just for the pool (only 13 x 7 so you’re not training for the Olympics in it, but that’s fine by me.)

2250 W. Ohio: 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3300 square feet

  • Currently listed at $995,000
  • Three level duplex
  • Three parking spaces
  • Private rooftop terrace and pool

You can check out the floorplans and more pictures at the brochure here.

  1. pool is a resistance pool, so you can swim against a current w/o having to make any turns. Still not training for the olympics, but it’s as good as you’ll get for lap swimming at home.

  3. Absolutely incredible place. If only the pool were usable for more than 3 months a year…

  4. There is another way to get a private pool and even more space with a similar distance to the city. Oak Park.

  5. Grant: Yes- indeed. Oak Park could also give you a private pool. But does it have rooftop views of the city from that pool? I don’t think so.

  6. CTK: 3 months a year?!? You must be confusing Chicago with Minneapolis. The summer flowers in my garden are still blooming.

Maybe the pool is heated? That would help.

  8. This didn’t sell. The listing was cancelled 12/27/07. Original owner’s purchase was non-arm’s length in 1994. Sold 5/21/99 for $740,000 and 4/4/05 for $760,000.

This was a unit occupied originally by one of the brother duo that developed the property back in the pre-mania days of 1993-94. The other occupied one of the large three-level “triplex” (lol, jrock) units along the Oakley frontage. That unit had a second-floor cutout that allowed a view from the first floor all the way up to the restored industrial skylight on the 3rd fl roof about 40+ feet above. There is also a very nice courtyard that is completely surrounded by the building. Overall, an exceptional loft conversion.

  9. I have wanted this since Sabrina first posted it. So, G, how low should it go?

  11. Kitchen is Poliform (I suppose Pggenpohl is close enough)- owner is in The Netherlands on a 2 year assignment. Investment in property is as good as anything at the moment. I liked the black kitchen too!

  12. Looks really nice in the brochure. Has a lot of character. Reminds me something oft overlooked here. Doesn’t always come down to just numbers.

  13. If you got it and want to spend it, this is a nice place.

A belief that housing is currently an investment, instead of an expense, is the mistake to avoid.

Go ahead and smoke, if you got ’em.

  14. Just walked downstairs after taking you up on that suggestion G.

I’m just in the initial phases of making a bunch of bedrooms go bye-bye. Not the brightest idea but I’m keeping it til I die. 🙂
Kinda my point. And compliments to whoever actually did a little work to put the brochure together. Maybe the drought will force some to put out a bit. Actually work.

  15. I believe that someone on here commented that the Jennifer Ames Team gives good brochure, but not much else. Was it Margo?
