Buy a Rowhouse for the Price of a Condo: 2343 W. Altgeld in Logan Square

This 2-bedroom rowhouse at 2343 W. Altgeld in Logan Square was built in 1911.

At 1500 square feet, it has 2-bedrooms on the second floor, an unfinished basement, a backyard and a 1.5 car private garage.

There are hardwood floors throughout.

The kitchen has white cabinets and appliances.

The rowhouse has the other bells and whistles buyers look for like central air. It also has a full bath with each bedroom on the second level.

Is this rowhouse a good condo alternative?

Sean Glascott at Koenig & Strey has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever set foot in that little triangle between western/fullerton/kennedy. Maybe it’s an ok area but seems awfully cut off. Not exactly the best part of Logan Sq. Wonder what’s a good comp in the better part of Logan….(too busy to look today)

  2. This place might as well be 2343 W. Kennedy Expressway.

  3. I was thinking about lining up a showing until I noticed the location, no thanks.

Stumbling distance to Quenchers and the Mutiny (two of my favorite bars ever) is definitely a plusplusplus.

  4. You could stumble home from Quenchers pretty easily.

  5. Living near the Mutiny would be awesome. I would never tire of having Slayer on the jukebox!

  6. Rather than “close to everything” listing should say: “conveniently in Kennedy Expressway’s right-of-way”. Noise, light, and smell concerns.

  9. What a beautiful view of the Kennedy. I am sure some car, truck or exhaust gas enthusiast will snap this up.

  10. This place needs more cabinet space in the kitchen.

  11. Air quality this close to the Kennedy will probably give you or your kids health problems. I never understood those 2 million dollar homes in Bucktown with air quality that would give EPA testers nightmares. Those old diesel 18 wheelers rolling all night should be of concern to potential buyers .

  12. -honey could youhand me the fruity pebbles in the second cabinet on the right?….5 hours later they are talking to divorce lawyers

-no need for a finished basement when you can store everything you own in the kitchen

-craiglist add..$50 a month all your storage need, please enter from back to get to kitchen

-from friends…”Can there beeee any more cabinet doors?”

-what was that movie where you would go through a door and end up somewhere crazy? was it beetle juice?

-it needs more cowbell, more cowbell (replace cowbell with cabinets)

-ever forget an anniversary? just tell her you hid it in the kitchen…. then go out for a few hours get her a gift, stop at a bar toss a few back, come home and say you didnt find it yet?

    – house in logan for sale, short term memory problems please look elsewhere

I lived near the expressway for about a year. Developed asthma. The asthma’s gone since I moved away. Air quality sucks, although you get used to the relaxing noise of traffic…

Why’s everyone harshing on the kitchen cabinets? I’d rather have them up to the ceiling than have that dead space on shorter cabinets, where all the cooking goo and dust settle to create a sludge that’s impossible to clean up there. What they need is more counter space…

I like this place, even with the location. I think ~$250 might get it done.

  15. Nice interior, and I like the kitchen cabinets; more places should have kitchen cabinets like these.

    ha, nice one, Bob.

although it’s possible 10+ years from now traffic exhaust will be significantly reduced via more electric, hybrid and overall fuel-efficient vehicles. air quality does substantially decline every foot you get closer the highway, that’s pretty undeniable.

  17. If you ever need convincing that the smoking ban was a terrible idea, go visit the Mutiny. That place REEKS of urine, body odor and shattered dreams. I still love it.
