Pretty dang cool, I could live in Edgewater if I lived here!!! Not sure why they went with a vintagey/suburban looking kitchen, should have kept the contemporary look going. But I could deal with my 8 burner viking and replace the cabinets later.

Still a very unusual unit. Not sure that it has broad appeal to those that could afford this price point. I think that it sits for an unusually long time. Again like the Pratt mini-mansion there are enough one off buyers in Chicago for many unusual properties. Hopefully one will surface soon.
If it is truly 5000 sq. feet then I think that it needs to have a few more bedrooms. Just an opinion but I see possibilities of an extended family situation working with this place. The 4 car garage really helps that theory out nicely. Make two more bedrooms to go with the 5.5 baths and upgrade those out of place kitchen cabinets. I truly think that those simple changes would open up the potential buyer pool and get it sold at this or slightly higher price point very quickly.
Interesting place. I like it. I am picturing single dude or gay power couple. For the price they should have changed out the cabinets (seriously $12k in Ikea modern cabinets would go a long way here.
The 5 and 1/2 baths is a bit of an overkill.
Agree on assessements, except you have to assume they are paying for the units combined nature.

um…. no!
Ikea cabinets might be a bit of a stretch however they did not need to add the most expensive line from Balthup either. Take a cue from that one updated master bath cabinet selection and make something happen that is fitting with the nature of the home. Find a sample sale from the mart. Add a few additional pieces and make it look right.
How do you spend 12k on Ikea cabinets? Your kitchen would have to be the size of a ballroom.

I wonder how much of the assessment goes towards elevator maintenance. A private elevator sounds great at first, but I imagine the cost of maintaining it would be prohibitively high for most people.
Are you cribhaters seriously moaning and groaning about the cabinets? That has to be one of the coolest living rooms I’ve ever seen north of Division. This home is spectacular.

If it’s truly private–as in it only serves this unit–it shouldn’t be a common element paid for by the assessment.
Isn’t this unit directly across from a fire damaged town home in same complex that I see from the lakefront path? If so, why has that unit apparently remained untouched for some years?

This is one of my pet peeves as well. I wish all internet listings for places would come with a floor plan, but from my search less than 5% of places offered for sale actually have floor plans online.
I looked up the address – the fire occurred in August, 2011in townhome to south of subject & fwiw I note unit K sold for $332K in 2010 and unit J sold for $393K in 2009.
Trudi – And what makes this unsuitable for a single woman or a straight power couple (with or without children)?
Local Lassie-Sure…I could see a woman living there as well, but the overall vibe strikes me as more masculine. I can’t see a family wanting to live there, the layout with the master by itself turns most families off to that type of living.
Just a generalization of course, but those would be my target markets for this listing.

The unit itself looks pretty cool and the lake/beach views are rad. But I really don’t like how the massive windows on the side walls are facing the seemingly pretty identical) townhouse just a couple of feet away.
