Our Favorite Million Dollar West Town Penthouse FINALLY Sells- Can You Guess The Price? 1715 W. Ohio

We chattered about this 3-bedroom duplex penthouse at 1715 W. Ohio in West Town several times in the last 3 years.

See our August 2011 chatter here.

If you recall, the unit is no ordinary top floor unit. At 6000-square feet, it was the real deal with a massive 1700 square foot deck with downtown views and a fire pit.

In the 2009 chatter, when the unit was listed for about $2 million, most of you thought they’d be lucky to get a million.

3 years later, the unit finally sold as a short sale for $1.125 million.

If you recall, the 3-bedroom duplex had 14 to 17 foot high ceilings and a private high speed elevator which opened into the unit.

The 30×20 master suite was on the second floor and had a fireplace.

The other two main floor bedrooms weren’t too shabby on space either at 29×21 and 20×13.

The kitchen was “gourmet” with an oversized Brazilian granite island and SubZero and Miele appliances.

Did someone get a steal?

Chaz Walters at Coldwell Banker still had the listing once again. You can still see the pictures here.

  1. 11K in assesments
    15K in taxes
    1.125 sales price

Still like the look, that view, and the hood but just can’t make those numbers work with my checkbook. Too bad. Hope that the new owners enjoy living in the space. Let’s see 6000 sq. feet = $187.50. Looks like the bulls eye guess goes to JS for $1,080,000. Congrats on getting so close without going over the actual retail price. Bob Barker would be very proud of you.

  3. the original chatter had some suspiciously shill sounding comments. wonder if there is a relation to those and how far a place has to drop before selling.

  4. Nothing in the public records yet about the hedge fund manager/pro athlete/international playboy/chinese princeling that purchased this unit.

  5. Probably bought by the owner of Duk’s. They rake in the cash there…

  6. Blech. Why would someone pay $1 mln to live in this neighborhood in a building that looks like this from the outside?

its 6000sqft and one of the top bad azz staged homes we have seen on cribchatter.

  8. Skylights in the bathroom. High ceilings, lots of windows. This place is awesome. The taxes and assessments at $2,150/month are not that high for 6,000 square feet. Most million dollar units are going to have a monthly nut like that.

  9. Groove – I can see it has a lot of space and amenities. But to me, the neighborhood and exterior kind of cancel those out. This building looks dumpy from the outside, like thousands of similar ones all over town.

I agree not a fan of the hood.

“This building looks dumpy from the outside”

considering the surroundings i would call it a plus to lay incognito
