  1. Are they marketing it towards pre-teen girls? Nobody cares if Johnny Depp frequented the condo. And furthermore nobody wants the most expensive unit in a building designed to someone else tastes.

  2. Well stated, John. $1.4 Mil is grossly overpriced for this unit. 1414 N. Wells Street is an ordinary building with no views and a proximity to a bad section of the “redeveloped” Cabrini Green ‘hood.

Given the 1000+ inventory of units in newer buildings in Streeterville and River East— that provide superior views to this “over-designed” mid-rise unit— the owner of this unit is delusional to think he/she/they will recoup the money they unwisely spent over-personalizing.

  3. Overdesigned is an understatement. That kitchen looks like it was designed by a Dungeons & Dragons or Lord of the Rings fan.

  4. Angelina Jolie filmed some movie scenes on the street in front of my place, therefore it has to be worth a lot more than any place Johnny Depp visited.

  5. I always thought realtors had an obligation to be truthful with their sellers- This seller is dellusional and the realtor should have pointed this out. Johnny Depp visited there? so what. Can’t wait to see how hard this price falls-

  6. The design is rather inconsistent — rather modern in the bath and closet, not so much in the other rooms. And the green patina in the kitchen (surprisingly) doesn’t work with the violet lighting.

  7. George Washington Slept Here. Or more like Jennifer Slept Here from the decor….

  8. UGH! Rather I should say u-g-l-y! Please though say it ain’t so. A broker actually has the chutzpah, the absolute unbridled “noive” to create such a listing? Even worse, the owner OKd it. BTW and as an aside, doesn’t the broker need permission to use Johnny Depp’s name in this lame attempt to make a buck?

  9. if you think about it, the only way they are going to find a buyer at that price is by marketing it to the rare person who might see value in something the general public would not. It’s a longshot, but who else will pay 1.4 mil other than an overenthusiastic fan of Mr. Depp?

  11. Why oh why didn’t I think of that Kenworthey? I am contacting an attorney and the broker as we “speak” to see if I can have that written into the contract 😉 Birthdays and every other Thanksgiving perhaps. WOW. Just imagine Ed Scissorhands carving the Thanksgiving bird.

  12. Worth more a couple of years ago, but even then only about half the current asking price.
Johnny Depp? What they really need is an 88-mph ride up Wells St. in Michael J. Fox’s DeLorean.

  13. Heard from a friend who toured the place that the realtor said the light fixture in the dining room (must be the ones in the kitchen after looking at the pics) was available to buy for some ungoldly amount of money. I forget the exact amount, but it was something in the 6 figures.
