Victorian With 5 Porches in Old Norwood Park Sells: 6129 N. Northcott

We last chattered about this 3-bedroom Victorian home with a big front porch at 6129 N. Northcott in Old Norwood Park in June 2010.

See our prior chatter and pictures here.

In addition to the five outdoor spaces, including “secret” porches on the side of the house, it had a large backyard due to the oversized Chicago lot of 50×200.

The house also had a prime loop commuting location as it was located just 4 blocks to the Metra stop.

The property sold in August 2010 for $104,900 under the original list price.

  2. The buyers of this house will be very pleased with their purchase. I look forward to their many beautiful nights on their many porches and know that they will revel in these memories. I only hope that they were able to sell their house without any trouble and that their finances are stable for years to come.

    Clio! Stop hijacking my name!!!

  5. Not the biggest fan of Norwood Park or Old Norwood personally, but like the house and this seems like a good price in the current market.

  7. Hey anon! I’ve been good! Catching up on some cribchatter – that 200+ reply post re: groove moving the burbs was enlightening 😉 Still in Chicago, had another babeh, contemplating our next RE move; learned A LOT from the last one. And you?

  9. MrsB–been experiencing the “fun” of writing checks to contractors. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same old. You planning to stay around Chi, or thinking again about boogying out?

  10. “Beautiful home; love the porches”

it was a beauty, i drove past it this monday (was at the park there with little groove). it would be for me, from the front, a landscaping headache. the two houses on it flank have the same scheme, it gives the house good privacy cover but its too much and not my tastes in landscaping curb appeal.

CONGRATS MrsB!!!!!!! remember the first one is just practice the second one is what you focus on now. (hmmm that can refer to both the kids and homes, guess which i was going for there)

  11. Ahh, thanks for the congrats – very kind. I’m learning that re: my second child, but you’re right, said adage could also absolutely apply to searching/purchasing a second home. Good call.

Anon my friend, THAT is the million dollar question. We consider ourselves pretty lucky to get out when we did, so we’re really in no hurry to make another purchase any time soon; especially since with the current state of the market, it doesn’t seem like there’s any *need* to rush. I do think that “home” is where we’d like to eventually end up, but well, that might not be in the cards with our jobs & that state’s economy, sooooo…back to square one – where to go next?

Glad to see you both are still here.

This would be the ad placed by clio when he wants to sell one of his many, many successful RE investment properties.
