2-Bedroom Lincoln Park Loft Reduces $10K Under the 2004 Price: 1001 W. Altgeld

This 2-bedroom loft in the Soda Pop Factory at 1001 W. Altgeld in Lincoln Park has been on the market since August 2011.

In that time, it has reduced $41,000 to $359,000.

The loft has 12 foot ceilings and exposed brick.

The listing says the unit has had a “complete renovation”. The kitchen has 42 inch cabinets, stainless steel, and granite counter tops.

The master bedroom has a “spa-like” master bath.

The loft has all the amenities buyers look for including central air, washer/dryer in the unit and parking. It’s also just 2 blocks to the El and various shopping/restaurants.

This loft is now listed $10,000 under the 2004 purchase price.

Is this a deal for the location?

Timothy Salm at Jameson Sotheby’s has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. Wow! They picked a color palette and stuck with it.

  2. A little paint and I’d actually like this place. $340K? Parking, close to a main L stop, not on busy street, not too far west, decent entertainment options nearby.

  3. Not my taste at all, but looks decent. The exterior is pretty sad looking though.

  4. Some of the finishes seem too traditional for a loft. Not shocked we are seeknig properties take price reductions. At this time of the year, sellers have to decide whether to take it off the market till spring or make a price reduction to move it during winter.

  7. The exterior of this place depresses me. I suppose if you can get past that and like a lot of exposed brick, this might be a good choice. Location is OK, though not my favorite part of LP.

  9. The exterior is ugly and the interior looks nice if you redo the BLAND beigeness. Seems like a decent deal if the color doesn’t put you to sleep before you finish looking at the place.

  12. But isn’t it smart to go beige-bland buyers can see past for RE purposes rather than a ‘creative’ color palette that might turn-off a percentage of buyers? Better than stark white IMO.

  13. Ah, the Lasser’s soda pop factory. Loved that place. This is a nice spot, train is super close and you’ve got Jonquil park right there as well. Not a condo guy, but this looks pretty nice.
