3-Bedroom Duplex Up Brick and Timber Loft Returns: 612 N. Oakley in West Town
We’ve chattered about this brick and timber authentic loft in The Village Lofts at 612 N. Oakley in West Town several times over the last year.
Our first chatter, in May 2012, consisted of debating whether or not this property was in the Ukrainian Village or the Patch.
No one could decide.
See that chatter here.
Back in May, most of you thought it was overpriced for the neighborhood.
But that was then and this is now.
If you recall, it has exposed brick and timber ceilings in 2000 square feet.
There are two bedrooms and two baths on the main floor along with the main living area.
A steel staircase takes you to the second floor where a master suite and a 25 foot landscaped west facing terrace awaits.
The kitchen has maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances.
The loft has the other features buyers look for including central air, in-unit washer/dryer and parking.
Last July, this loft was reduced to $448,000.
It has come back on the market at $524,900.
Is the market $76,900 hotter just 13 months later?
Didn’t it also appear on a recent episode of House Hunters? (it was the one where the couple was looking for a 3-bedroom with vintage character in Lakeview, so of course, they went to look at this loft in West Town.)
Gregory Quadrini at Prudential Rubloff has the listing. See the pictures here.

Nice unit but hate single sided kitchens…… Love the maly bed ( we have one) but the double mattress is a no no as you can’t swing the tables over the bed.
Really cool place. I like it a lot – especially that bathtub. I have no idea on the price.
Said it before and I will say it again. This appears to be a pretty good loft. Hopefully it will sell this time around.
BTW – Check out the previous thread. Remember that one well. It was Joe Z vs Groove in a battle royale. What ever happened to the Groove. DId his employer finally cut off access to the CC site?
“What ever happened to the Groove. DId his employer finally cut off access to the CC site?”
Think he finally took that job in Des Moines.
One of the better looking lofts I’ve seen, inside and out, but wouldn’t want this location. I don’t think the neighborhood will ever improve much from where it is now. Too edgy.

Nope, i still have world wide web access, and no Des Moines.
Going through the old thread, did anyone outside of the seventh post actual provide any important info pertaining to the property?
Still its a pimp property, in an odd location where the old timers who lived there made it unique are gone now
Would people take the metra in from there or the Grand bus?
I used to have a client less than a half mile south of there and it was a really sketchy area. I had to park inside a chain linked fence when I was there.
There used to be some sweet old school bars not far from there. Does anyone remember the original Tuman’s?
Beautiful loft! Love the bathrooms and the terrace.
Great neighborhood. I run through here about 3 times per week on my normal jogging route. $1 Million SFH Homes sprouting up all over.
