Living in a Duplex Loft: 1300 W. Altgeld in Lincoln Park
Chicago may be famous for its lofts, but what about the duplex loft?
Altgeld Court, at 1300 W. Altgeld in Lincoln Park, is a loft building that is all about the duplex. These are also a bit more unusual because they are not the usual timber or concrete ceilings.
Built in 1991, there are currently three duplex units on the market, including this one bedroom.
Unit #141: 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths
- Sold in March 2003 for $298,000
- Currently listed for $349,900 (parking space included)
- Assessments of $175 a month
- Koenig & Strey has the listing
This cracks me up. That place at 928 W. Eastwood is $360,000.00 Its a dump in a bad hood. You could buy a place like this for less!
This looks OK to me. At least a bit different. Do they have in unit laundry? What do the 2/2s go for? Do they have roof decks or just the small outdoor patios?
It must be a killer to have to heat and air condition all that wasted space.
The building’s exterior is atrocious.
Yes the exterior is odd looking. But actually that was the popular facade and window types for buildings built in 1990-1991. It reminds me of a new middle school that broke ground that I attended in 1991.
The contrast between the materials and colors on the exterior walls make this very poor looking. Nondescript yet at the same time fugly..
Streeterville,
No roof decks, I looked a 2 bedroom around 3 years ago.
Laundry in Unit, Outdoor Parking, Nice two story living room.
I think the asking price was around $460k for around 1600sq. ft…
