Back To The 1998 Price For This Bank Owned 2-Bedroom Loft? 226 N. Clinton On The Near West Side

This 2-bedroom in the Clinton Street Lofts at 226 N. Clinton on the Near West Side recently came on the market. (Sorry about the picture. It is a couple of years old and I just noticed that it’s not the greatest one I’ve ever taken.)

It is bank owned.

The loft has numerous walls of exposed brick and high timber ceilings.

The two bathrooms appear to be intact but there are no pictures of the kitchen (so we don’t know about that.)

There are diagonal hardwood floors in the main living space.

Is that the El tracks directly out one set of windows?

The listing doesn’t say so but the unit should have central air and washer/dryer hook-ups in the unit (as other units in the building have it). There is also deeded parking.

The loft is priced about 30% under the 2005 purchase price and only $14,000 above the 1998 price.

The Clinton Street Lofts are popular as they have many authentic loft features and are within walking distance of most downtown offices.

Is this a steal at this price?

Daniel Robinson at Realty Executives has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. 285k with a parking spot looks somewhat appealing, but taxes and assessments are much higher compared to this building’s competition; China Club Lofts, which is two blocks away and in a better location. Wouldn’t pay over 250k for this. Somebody already got a much better deal for a lower price: http://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/616-W-Fulton-St-60661/unit-302/home/14101693

  2. ^Just realized the comp I posted is 140 sq/ft smaller. Probably should’ve taken that into consideration. Happy Friday everyone.

  6. If I owned a loft at the China Club I’d insist everyone refer to it as the Dragon Room. Groove 77, I was more of a Shelter girl myself. Now I feel older than dirt – I was clubbing when dinosaurs roamed the streets of Chicago.

oh man we are dating ourselves. I spun at shelter and once at china club when i was wee little kid. never got the prime time spots always the early just opened the door spots.

those were the days when every one danced and the only people along the walls where there to catch their breath, grab a drink, or wipe the sweat off. Now its a bunch of thugs lining the walls and a few chickenheads dancing.

  9. Only went to China Club a few times. I spent more time at Dreamerz and Lizard Lounge.
