Classic East Lakeview 2/1 in a Brick Walk-Up with Garage Parking for $499,900: 606 W. Aldine
This top floor 2-bedroom at 606 W. Aldine in East Lakeview came on the market in July 2025.
Built in 1917, 606 W. Aldine is a brick walk-up which has 6 units and garage parking. It also has a shared landscaped backyard, with a table and loungers and the units have private storage in the building.
This building is somewhat unique because there is an alley next to the side of the building where the garages open to so it’s a long narrow lot.
The listing says it has “vintage character with thoughtful modern updates.”
It has some of its vintage features including “elegant” archways, original moldings and hardwood floors throughout.
There are bay windows in the living room with a gas fireplace with built-in bookshelves.
As many classic Chicago apartments have, it has a formal dining room with a built-in buffet. But the buffet has been painted white and modernized, with the upper half doors taken off.
The kitchen is “updated” with white cabinets, wood open shelving, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and a premium range.
The listing says it is “perfect for home chef’s.”
There is a covered deck off the kitchen.
The primary bedroom is semi-ensuite with the “recently updated” full bath.
There’s a second bedroom as well as a dedicated office, which has built-in bookshelves.
This unit has the features that buyers look for including central air, washer/dryer in the unit and a private garage space.
This building is right in the heart of the shops and restaurants on Broadway in East Lakeview. It is near bus lines and not far from the lake front.
This unit is listed at $499,900, which is $44,900 above the 2022 sales price of $455,000.
When it came on the market earlier this week, it was supposed to have an Open House on Saturday. It appears they have cancelled that. It may even go under contract by the time this post goes up.
For vintage lovers, does this unit have it all?
Patrick Shino at Fulton Grace Realty has the listing. See the pictures here (no floor plan).

It’s nice for what it is, and having garage parking in this area in a small building is a big plus.
Lived around the block from this building for ages and always wondered what it’s like inside. Living on an alley is always a risk, however, for noise and rats.
That said, I really like this unit, though the price is kind of high considering the size. The back porch and back yard are pretty great.
Contingent as of 7-11
Closed for $650,000. $150,000 over list price.
Dec-07 bubble price + CPI = $590k
IMO, buyers will come to regret that winning bid (unless it’s a typo–$550k??).
Whoa. That’s what is going on out there right now though. This also had to be all-cash. People want what they want. There are less than 200 properties on the market in Lakeview. Plenty of money sloshing around.
I wonder what this unit will sell for? It doesn’t even have parking but it’s a big 2/2 with 1700 square feet. Listed at $575,000.

Thanks for the update on the price Vera. It is CRAZY out there.
The only properties lagging are those in the older highrises like those built in 1960s and 70s. Especially if they haven’t been updated or they don’t allow in-unit washer/dryer.
