Even Rentals Being Reduced: 235 W. Menomonee in Old Town
I last chattered about this house rental at 235 W. Menomonee in Old Town in December 2007.
Five months later, it’s still on the market and has now been reduced by $5,000 a month.
Yes, the full-time housekeeper and caretaker are STILL included in the rental price.
235 W. Menomonee: 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths
- Sold in July 1999 for $1,135,000
- Sold in December 2002 for $1,700,000
- Massive roofdeck with cabana
- Full nanny quarters (with own bedroom and bath)
- Four car garage with parking available for 6 cars
- Was available for rent in December 2007 for $16,500 a month
- Reduced
- Now available for rent for $11,500 a month
- Rubloff has the listing
Can you opt out of the full time housekeeper and caretaker? Do they live on the property? Just the idea of it, creeps me out. Who wants to rent a place that comes with strangers?
SR: They don’t live on the property. They come in to take care of the property.
Actually, I don’t know many people in this price range who wouldn’t have a gardner included (as I assume that the “caretaker” would take care of the lawn/backyard as well as other caretaking issues.)
And the housekeeper is also pretty standard at this price range. (Either rent OR own.)
Why would you want to have a place this big and take care of it yourself? Not me.
is this the place at the end of lincoln park west, dead center? This is a neat string. Why are there heaters in the back yard, like they have at clubs on outdoor patio’s?

So they can sit outside when it’s not quite warm? I’ve been to a number houses in California that have them. They’re available to rent for an event at your house, too.
