Is This Your Dream Loft? A 2-Bedroom Penthouse Duplex at 411 W. Ontario in River North
This 2-bedroom penthouse duplex loft at the Ontario Street Lofts at 411 W. Ontario in River North just came on the market.
This is an authentic loft with exposed brick walls, concrete pillars and concrete ceilings.
It has industrial south facing windows and 12 foot ceilings on the first floor with 10’4 on the second floor.
The kitchen has white Brilliante cabinets with stainless steel appliances.
The listing says all bathrooms have fully integrated stone details, including a full height Crema Marfil shower in the master bathroom.
There are two wood burning fireplaces, in the living room and the family room.
The 2 bedrooms and family room are on the second floor along with the private deck.
But the big feature of the loft is the unique, custom iron staircase, complete with skylights, dominating the middle of the loft.
It has central air, washer/dryer in the unit and 2- car parking is included.
They’re holding an Open House today, from 12 – 2 pm.
It’s unusual to have open houses on weekdays, for obvious reasons.
Is that to handle all the requests for showings?
Will this sell within days?
Nancy Nugent at Jameson Sotheby’s has the listing. See the pictures here.
Or go to the Open House on Tuesday, April 11 from 12-2 pm.

Right on the feeder ramp… Right on the spot where motorcycles are at maximum throttle
no freaking way in hell would I do that again
so many sleepless summer evenings
This is A LOT of money for a two-bed. These folks need to come back down to earth. I think the week-day open house is for other realtors to see it?
True story – – a neighbor tried that ploy where you pretend your property is super exclusive and list it with a “ALL OFFERS DUE AT 1:27PM on Tuesday! DON’T MISS IT!!!” and then the next day shaved $25K off of their ask.
I guess people aren’t falling for the hype like they did in 2005 🙂
Money talks and bullshit walks!
This seems fairly priced. Definitely not geared towards a family (I think the other main floor bedroom internal) but you do get a lot of square footage for the money. Very well run building w/ low monthlies. As for the feeder ramp – the positive is your view wont be blocked. The negative is the noise. Thick drapes and white noise machine will help but not completely block it out.
Not sure where else to put this but a new article on job growth in Chicago:

I’ve been in this building several times and it’s pretty much on a par with the other loft conversions on that stretch of Ontario. The big problem with 411 is that if the unit has a south view, you get the sights and sounds of the Feeder Ramp, not the most romantic or scenic of vistas.
On a clear day … you can see the back side of the Office Depot.
Yet ANOTHER “high end” stove with a freakin microwave over it…Sheesh.
