Lakeside Living at its Finest in the South Shore: A 3-Bedroom Co-Op at 7321 S. South Shore

This 3-bedroom in the Windsor Beach Co-Op Apartments at 7321 S. South Shore Drive in the South Shore neighborhood came on the market in October 2025.

Built in 1928, the Windsor Beach Co-Op Apartments has 64 units and gated parking which used to be $20 a month but I’m not sure what it is today.

The building has door staff, an on-site engineer, a vintage lobby, an outdoor deck, a garden and direct beach access.

The Windsor Beach is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This unit has some of its vintage features including crown moldings, a formal entry foyer and hardwood floors throughout.

There is a separate dining room and a fireplace in the living room.

This unit has multiple exposures including dead on lake views from the dining room.

The kitchen has a checkerboard floor, white cabinets and stainless steel appliances.

There is a large primary suite with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in-closet.

A second bedroom also has an en suite full bathroom.

This unit has some of the features buyers look for including washer/dryer in the unit (tucked into the half bath), parking is available, but it doesn’t have central air but has window units.

This building is near the South Shore Cultural Center.

Listed at $245,000, it sold last March for $230,000.

Is this a deal for the 2000 square feet?

Jarrod Enright at Redfin has the listing. See the pictures and floor plan here.

  1. Gorgeous unit. A little concerned there aren’t more pictures of the baths. May be overpriced for the area. This neighborhood has quite a ways to go in terms of needed improvements. I bike through here on occasion. Bike lane is an after thought and actively disrespected by all motorists. A lot of drug dealing activity in certain buildings across the street from here. Everyone says the Obama library will spur a ton of gentrification which may be true but there are a lot of problem buildings very close by and life is short. The changes won’t be quick enough. Wondering if that has anything to do with why this person wants to sell so soon.

  2. How did they cram all this stuff in the apartment in 18 months. Looks like 30 years of living. I looked at the building because of the lake access. Great building but couldn’t get over the neighborhood. A guilded cage
Can’t walk to a store or the metra. And there was as in all vintage buildings the unknowns of plumbing wiring roofing tuckpointing etc.

    Settled on Hyde Park.

  3. I’ve been in the building and in this tier – units have great views and the layout is good (or I like the layout anyway).

I don’t think that the OPC is going to drive gentrification (it was already well underway in Woodlawn years ago before Obama was even a senator) this far southeast. However it’s lakefront location will eventually do that. Lots of gay couples/single of all racial combos in the building and along the lake here. Assessments are pretty reasonable for the vintage, especially with electric included.
