Live in the Shadow of Soldier Field in the South Loop: 1515 S. Prairie

We’ve been chattering quite a bit about the South Loop recently. This 2-bedroom corner unit at 1515 S. Prairie has been on the market since September 2009.

It is the lowest priced 2/2 in the building.

It has city views, hardwood floors, and stainless steel appliances and granite countertops in the kitchen.

The unit has been upgraded with granite in the master bathroom which also has a separate shower and jacuzzi tub.

Would this make a good in-town residence?

  1. Clearly they are entitled to 40k appreciation because they were so shrewd for purchasing it in 2003.

  3. again, help me understand why parking is listed separate from the price if it “must be sold with the unit”.

This place is really boring. Given the 500 other units on the market just like it, it needs to be staged.

    Looks like a rental.

because every scumbag realtor does this so even the decent guy needs to inorder for their listing to be comparable.

  6. I would ask the owner: “Why MUST it be sold with the unit?”

Maybe the answer is: “Because this isn’t downtown and the parking space has a real FMV of like 10k* to anyone that doesn’t live here”.

*10k for charging for parking on Bears home games.

  10. Also, What’s up with the single sink in the bathroom picture? It looks like you could fit 3 sinks on a countertop that size!

Hey lets be inclusive–mice and roaches love faux luxury condos too. And lets not forget to remember dust collecting in an unreachable nook that can’t be swept out has a place as well.

A lot of these architects during the boom must’ve just been straight HIIIIIGH. Ditto for the buyers.

i give credit to this builder cause he must of said “screw that architects floor plan and this stupid window i am going to build a bigger closet here”

But, the other end of the room doens’t appear ot have a window. Why not put the bigger closet on the other side?

  14. That is just plain retarded. I can’t believe it. I wonder if you can look out the window from inside the closet?

Some people like windows in their closets b/c it’s easier to see their clothes when they are dressing.

shyt the way the built this place i wonder if its even a real window?

“Why not put the bigger closet on the other side?”

ding, ding, ding, time for the $5 question of the day. or even better keep the closet in that room and just build it on the side where the picture is being taken from?

no wait instead dont build a closest buy shot gun and shoot yourself in the nutz so you will not be able to procreate. the world doesnt need your idiot spawn

I think that was what I said. Or, at least, it was what I was trying to say.

  18. Being that close to Soldier Field, I wonder what cell phone reception is like on game days. When I was at the Bears-Steelers game this year, I couldn’t make calls or send texts mocking a Steelers fan co-worker of mine without trying several times.

Of course, that may exclusively be an AT&T problem.

  19. At the Chicago A&W show I couldn’t make calls without many attempts and my text messages came in very late. This was on Nextel/Boost.

Sooo…good chance their cell phone service doesn’t work for eight days a year!

Or you could rent this – asking $2000 plus $200/parking:

  22. Windows in closets = bad. I had a walk in closet in a very old house that had a window. A couple of items stored by the window that were rarely worn (including a black suit of my husband’s) got bleached out before we got around to putting sliding doors in front of the clothes.

Is there an option to just rent the little nook blocking the window?
