Some info for you, most of this building was rebuilt do to water damage as a result of a fire on the roof. The fire was five years ago.
Anyone know what the story is behind the litigation at the 3946 Ravenswood lofts? All I’ve heard is they’re suing the developer.
Bluestreak, I know someone that lived in the building when the fire occurred. I helped her get her belongs out of the building immediately after the fire and it is wonderful to see the building in better condition than it was in the last time I was inside.
From what I remember, rebuilding was not easy. There were disputes between the condo board’s insurance, individual insurances and the insurance company of the unit where the fire started.
It is a nice building though, and unlike Sonies, I wouldn’t be surprised if this went for more than the 2010 price.
Benjamon09, my brother and his now wife lived on the first floor there and were out of town when the fire started. They had to move out upon their return. It was a non-smoking building and it’s possible that the fire started from a cigarette, so I heard. That could be the cause of some of the rebuilding issues.
I had heard the fire had to do with a not completely put out cigarette butt on a rooftop deck if I remember correctly.
If any potential buyer looks at price per square foot, he/she will see that this is priced too high. $355 psf is a bit rich for this location.
