Love Authentic Lofts? A Brick and Timber 1-Bedroom at 920 W. Sheridan in Lakeview

920 w sheridan approved

This 1-bedroom loft in the Skybox Lofts came on the market in November 2017.

It’s an authentic loft with 13 foot timber wood ceilings and several exposed brick walls.

It has south facing windows with a balcony and the listing says there are refinished hardwood floors.

The kitchen has white cabinets and new granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

The bathroom has a new soaking tub, all new tile, and a new vanity with a granite counter top.

It doesn’t look like the bedroom has any windows, however.

The loft has the features buyers look for including air conditioning, in-unit washer/dryer, a fireplace and a heated garage spot is included.

The property is just a few blocks to the Sheridan red line stop for an easy commute.

With inventory so low, and few lofts available in Lakeview, will this loft go under contract before the end of the year?

Antonio Giamberduca at Baird & Warner has the listing. See the pictures here.

  4. Not my favorite location but I do love the openness of it. For this much money you can get a one bedroom with parking and the same sq/footage in a much nicer location in Lincoln Park (like Altgeld Club – which has concrete loft styles; much better than timber). I’d much prefer my money going there, and living there vs living in what’s essentially Uptown.

    Alabama!

  5. “just a few blocks to the Sheridan red line stop”

Block and a half to the stop, and all of (maybe) 100 feet from the tracks. that is, too close.

Will be interesting to see if the new buildings over on Broadway make for a change in this corner of LV after they’re completed.

  6. I think it’s a great place – if I was 10 years younger and unmarried this would be an instant buy.

  8. “What would something like this cost to heat per month?”

Depends on the weather, obviously. It gets south facing light so that helps.

My estimate, having lived in lofts before, is $75 a month in 30-40 degree weather. Up to $200 a month if it goes sub zero and stays there for multi-days.

  9. Looked at these lofts in the late 90’s. Cool spaces and decent sized units. Surprised at that 2014 price. Pretty sure that it sold low at that time. Must have n en in rough shape at the time.

New buyer gets a fun place to live with what appears to be some nice current finishes.
