The unit has city and lake views (looks like north and east) with a clear view of Chicago’s loop skyline.
It has dark stained wood floors.
The kitchen has dark cabinets, granite counter tops, a tile backsplash and stainless steel appliances.
The listing talks about the possibility of a third bedroom as the “den” can be enclosed.
Both bedrooms have ensuite baths.
It has central air, washer/dryer in the unit and tandem parking is available for $44,000 extra.
If this unit looks familiar to some of you it could be because a penthouse unit came up in discussion about this building years ago after YoChicago posted a December 2010 sponsored video titled “Lauren and Matt’s penthouse at 235 W Van Buren”.

I don’t know if it’s the same unit, but the finishes and view are similar to the pictures in the current listing.

Despite the questionable exterior aesthetics, I like it a lot. The opened-up floorplan is pretty much perfect for my tastes. Not a big fan of the concrete ceilings or the unnecessary and expensive tandem parking but not a big deal. The biggest criticism I can make is the balcony appears too tiny for words.
I would absolutely hate to live in this area. It is completely dead after 6pm.
Nice looking place, but doesn’t offer much if you want an actual neighborhood.

After we bought our place, we sublet our rental to a woman and her daughter who were renting in this building. She said that it’s full of college students who puke in the hallways on the weekends. No thanks.

This is the worst digital staging I have ever seen. It actually makes everything look worse.

^lol you’re right I am just now noticing that by looking at the pics a lot closer, unit is clearly empty and some of the ‘stuff’ they added is pretty hilarious and all out of whack

I mean, most people wouldn’t catch that? But still.
Yep, I also saw the building and caught the “trust fund babies attending college on their parents’ dime” vibe. It’s not really all that “dead” on evenings/weekends; you are just a short walk/ride away from the downtown/West Loop nightlife. But still, the “award winning” exterior masks a very mediocre interior. I feel the same about the “Wave” building in the “New East Side.”

lol yes that was hilarious!!!
Aqua (“wave”) is one of the cheapest-quality construction condo buildings in city. In regards to this building, why leave work to return to your home that looks just like another office environment. Most of its units are so small as to guarantee a steady turn-over of units, residents moving in, staying a year, and moving out. Upscale urban dorm, minus the serious med and B-school students.
