Moorish Revival Stained Glass and Pocket Doors in the Gold Coast: 1325 N. Dearborn Parkway
This 2-bedroom at 1325 N. Dearborn Parkway in the Gold Coast recently came on the market.
Built in 1890, this building has 3 units and outside parking behind the building.
If you like vintage features, you’ll get plenty of those with this top floor unit.
It has Moorish Revival stained glass windows, high ceilings with medallions and crown molding and two working fireplaces with the original mantles.
There are inlaid wood floors and pocket doors.
There’s a small office with a window and also a family room.
It has central air, washer/dryer in the unit and 2-car tandem parking which is included in the price.
The kitchen has custom cabinets, luxury appliances and stone counter tops.
The listing says that “dogs are welcome” in the building.
The second floor unit in this building is also on the market but is contingent at $699,000.
See those pictures here.
This unit was last on the market in 2015 but didn’t sell. But it hasn’t changed owners since the 1980s.
Is this a rare chance for vintage lovers to buy into one of the Gold Coast’s most distinctive buildings?
Nancy Joyce at @Properties has the listing. See the pictures here.

Cool building. Like with any 3-unit building, it’s a gamble as to your neighbors. Having to manage your biggest investment with 2 other complete strangers sounds like it could be stressful. At least in a large association, at least some of the people will agree some of the time. Perhaps someone could buy all three units and turn it into a single family home.
Nice, well kept unit with well thought out touches. The built in desk is a great idea for that little nook and the kitchen looks a full step or two above the typical overpriced eastern european contractor job. The cabinet handles however are hideous and I would require them to be replaced as part of any real estate contract. The price at well north of $400 psf seems rich to me for a vintage until on a busy street but what do I know about anything these days.
I just walked by this building, saw the for sale sign, thought it was the whole building. I love this building. I would never buy a building like that with others. The uniqueness would take a lot to maintain, I see fighting in the future here.
I think the unit under contract at $699k looks better. Even with this being the top floor, $745k is a dream.

Seriously? My comment has -6 with only +3? what’s so bad about my comments? Do you folks want some virtue signaling here to improve my rating?
