Not All Properties Sold This Summer: A Rare Vintage 3/3 at 814 W. Roscoe in Lakeview

We’ve chattered about this 3-bedroom in a vintage greystone building at 814 W. Roscoe in Lakeview several times over the last few years.

See our May 2013 chatter here.

It has reduced $40,000 since we first chattered about it.

Many of you have liked this unit renovated/rehabbed unit over the years. Sonies originally thought it was very “New York-ish”.

Converted into condos in 2006, the living/dining and kitchen area now sports the popular open layout with what the listing calls a “chef’s kitchen” with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.

It has 14-foot high ceilings, crown molding and a fireplace.

The 3 bedrooms are also larger than what you might normally find in a vintage unit. It’s also unusual to find a vintage unit with 3 bathrooms. They usually just have 2.

The master bathroom is marble with a double vanity.

The property has the amenities buyers are looking for in this price range including central air, washer-dryer in the unit and 1-car parking.

This building appears to be a three-story walk-up.

Why do some GreenZone properties sell within a day or a week and others sit on the market for months? Could the lack of an elevator be the issue?

Brad Lippitz at Prudential Rubloff still has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. Could be the bright red bathroom?

  2. Every single vintage unit has been chopped apart into a cooking show studio with the kitchen in the living room (instead of in the back where it belongs, with the porch). So when are we going to see the Master Bed in the living room? Now that the new fad is everybody wants to be a porn star, chef’s are so passé.

  3. I had this place on our list when were were looking, even though the location has a little more nightlife than is good for us. Unfortunately, it has no available basement space. Since we need an easily accessible bike room, we decided not even to look at the place, as lovely as it appears to be.

  4. I agree with Melvin, this place lost some of the vintage character when it was converted to the “modern, open” layout that is thoroughly overrated. The lack of storage is a detriment as well, though I for one love the red bath.
