This 4-unit building has always reminded me of Paris, maybe because of the French doors with balconies.
It has other features that are also Parisian, however, including crown molding, wainscoting and a ceiling medallion along with a wood burning fireplace.
In addition to the small balcony in the front of the building, there is also a 18×14 private deck off the kitchen.
The listing says the kitchen has been “newly updated.” If you look at the 2013 listing pictures, which you can still see here, you can see this is true.
It has modern wood-looking cabinets (how do you describe this look?) along with black counter tops and stainless steel appliances.
There is a den adjacent to the kitchen which also has the same built-in cabinetry.
The master bathroom is also “new” with marble tile.
It has the other features buyers look for including washer/dryer in the unit, garage parking and central air.
At over 2000 square feet, is this a good townhouse alternative?

I think of it as wenge, even if it technically is not.
wenge is darker, looks more the like nordic oak finish to me
I think it’s priced a bit high but there’s a lot to like here. The radiator heat is a concern though as it can be tough to get temps right if you don’t have full control.
Saw it this weekend. A couple of things:
1. No washer/dryer in unit. Shared basement laundry.
2. Nowhere near 2000 sq feet. I think around 1700, given the floor plan available on the 2013 listing.
They did a really nice job on this place. Kevin, did you like the kitchen?
Perhaps they overdid the upgrades considering it does not have an in-unit washer/dryer. The idea of my underwear being washed in a machine that washed the underwear of someone else disgusts me.
New kitchen seems nice, notwithstanding the obvious drawback. Also nice that the back deck is covered. But what’s with the blanket placement on the living room chairs?

I’ve seen all sorts of stuff that’s lighter than actual wenge called “wenge” one place or another. Grabbing hold of the name and the ‘pattern’.

gtfooh. I can find nothing labeled ‘nordic oak’ that looks remotely like those cabinets.

those kitchen cabinets can either be some expensive Italian brand or from Ikea.
Ikea calls them walnut effect.

Thanks for the clarification Kevin. You cannot tell that is the case from the listing. It says that washer/dryer is in the equipment which almost always means it’s IN the unit. They usually disclose if it’s a common laundry in the basement but I guess for properties listed at $649,000 they don’t want to say that.
But apparently your own laundry doesn’t matter because it’s already under contract.

Beautiful unit with fine upgrades in great neighborhood. The lack of in-unit laundry could be rectified for another $5,000 or so in plumbing work.
This will sell for the ask price. I’m seeing comparable prices for places that have a lot less going for them, in non-prime neighborhoods.
