The Singer Lofts at 1019 W. Jackson was in that group of West Loop loft buildings converted in the 1990s so some of the authentic features were maintained. This duplex penthouse unit has 17-foot ceilings and two private decks. Ken Jungwirth at Rubloff has the listing. See more pictures, the virtual tour and the floorplan […]

In the last sevveral years, some developers have been converting old automobile showrooms on South Michigan (known as “Motor Row”) in the South Loop into outstanding authentic lofts. This 22-unit building at 2332 S. Michigan is a blend of the authentic loft elements of brick and high ceilings with modern kitchens and bathrooms. This particular unit is a 2-bedroom […]

This authentic brick and timber loft at 1701 N. Damen in the heart of Bucktown is one of those buildings that was converted in the early 1990s, back when lofts were meant to be big and spacious and have things like spiral staircases to rooftop decks. Since we love authentic lofts AND private roof top […]

We haven’t yet chattered about The Clocktower Lofts, at 2300 W. Wabansia, in Bucktown. The brick and timber building has 113 lofts. These lofts aren’t new construction cookie cutter. This 2-bedroom unit is one of the top floor duplex units which have a unique wall of skylights. Greg Vollan at @Properties has the listing. See more pictures […]

We keep chattering about this 2 bedroom brick and timber loft in The Donohue Building at 711 S. Dearborn in Printers Row. We’ve chattered about this 1500 square foot brick and timber 1-bedroom loft in the Donohue Building at 711 S. Dearborn in Printers Row several times. It’s been reduced another $20k. The listing now says that a “2nd Bdrm/Bath can be added”. Is the problem that it’s “only” a 1-bedroom unit? See some pictures and our old chatter […]

We’ve chattered before about the lofts at 540 N. Lake Shore Drive, one of the few authentic loft buildings in Streeterville and the only loft building right on North Lake Shore Drive. Given the sales prices of 875 square foot 1-bedrooms in some nearby new construction high rises, is this 1470 square foot 1-bedroom a […]

We last chattered about this 18-unit new loft building at 154 W. Hubbard in River North in September 2007 when it was 50% sold. It looks like the developer has sold all the remaining units. But one 2-bedroom has now come back on the market as a resale. Will this seller see any appreciation after […]

This 2400-square foot brick loft at 1200 N. Wells in Old Town is what a “loft” is supposed to look like. Tall ceilings, open space and a ton of brick. Although the listing calls it “loft-like.” If this unit isn’t a loft- what is it then? Here’s the listing: Dramatic, rarely available 2400+ sqft River North/Old Town […]
