We chattered about this traditional looking 4-bedroom home with a contemporary interior at 4337 N. Paulina in the Ravenswood Historic District several times.

See our August 2009 chatter and pictures here.

It has now gone under contract 18 months after it was first listed.

If you remember, the house was on an oversize 33×165 lot.

It had a renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The house also had skylights.

  1. Four threads in a row featuring cribchatter properties that sold or are under contract. This can mean only one thing: we’ve reached the bottom. Things are going back up. Kudos to these buyers for timing the bottom so perfectly. Us losers on cribchatter missed the bottom and we missed it by a long shot. I’ll put my tail between my legs and go home. It sucks, man, I’ve now priced out of real estate FOREVER. I don’t think that working harder or getting a better job will help. wah-wah.

Either that, or love is blind.

  3. This place was a deal. A large single family home on a large lot in a beautiful part of the city. The interior looks great. The one hiccup is the facade of place which many people on here hate (personally I don’t think it is THAT bad). Kudos to the buyer. The seller had to be a little frustrated – just bad timing.

  4. “This place was a deal.”

And you don’t even know what it closed at. Guess you believe it was a deal even at ask price?

“The one hiccup is the facade”

A hiccup is not synonymous with a gag reflex.

  5. Bob, you were too easy on “Rah Rah Ryan”.

I live near this house and never had the issue with the facade as many here have had. It is in good upkeep and the wood is a warm rich touch. It’s not the best example of Roman neoclassicm I’ve ever seen :-), but the entrance and porch are interesting and functional. I love the large veticle windows. This is a house you really want to visit when passing by on the street. There are many others forgettable on the way. I wish I took a look at it while it was available… I’d like to get a feel how I’d live in it as the layout may pose challenges.

Assuming it closed at a discount of between 5-10% off the list (or of course more) than I think it was a decent deal.
