The Non-Cookie Cutter Condo Is Still Available: 1855 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park
We last chattered about this top floor 2-bedroom unit at 1855 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park in June.
See our prior chatter and pictures here.
The unit is far from your average top floor cookie-cutter condo with its distinctive staircase and lofted bedroom.
It also has a sunken living room and 2-car parking which is included.
It has been reduced $16,000 since June.
Ron Knoll at Saffron Realty still has the listing. See more pictures and a virtual tour here (be sure to check out the picture of the vintage elevator.)

Maybe there was some money put into this place, but $50k more than he *2007* price is crazy. This unit will sit for a long time, and probably sell somewhere around $450k. The neighborhood is ok, but Halsted is a real minus (getting clipped by errant cab drivers everytime you exit your *uncovered* parking is not cool).
I really like this place although I still think it is a bit over priced for the current market. They need to get it back in the mid 500s and it will probably sell in a heartbeat. Financing will be tough at this price point for the target market of buyers.
If I was a midget I would love this place.
“If I was a midget I would love this place.”
Lol yeah that upstairs office, and bathroom have what, 6′ ceilings? Sorry, not going to work as I am much taller than that!
Except I’m not sure that midgets like teal covered cabinets
The kitchen cabinets and flooring actually made me say ‘Yikes!’ out loud.
guess what the grooves kitchen remodel next summer will look like? (sans SS and that floor)
I do think there need to be an explanation of why this place is priced above the 2007 price. If no major things were changed it should be below the 2007 price.
the place is sweet i love it! one thing, how tall are the loft area cellings?
“Except I’m not sure that midgets like teal covered cabinets”
Unless, of course, they are members of the Lollipop Guild.
That elevator alone would seal the deal after a night at The Store.
“one thing, how tall are the loft area cellings?”
6 feet
sonies,
really? 6ft?
so what your saying is its $619,000 for a 1br 1bath with crawl space storage?
I am only 5’9″ and I like this place. Also most of my girlfriends have been shorter, and all shorter than 6′ (tall chicks don’t like shorter dudes). Also what do you do in an office area but sit down?
I agree mid 500s and this place would sell real quick. I like the layout and the kitchen too. Although not a member of the Lollipop Guild, I would accept an honorary induction.
sonies – i assume you’re basing the ceiling height on the size of the tiles in the bathroom at 12×12…they look larger then that, probably closer to 18×18 which would make the ceiling appox 9 feet but it’s still hard to tell.
Look at the relationship of the counter height (30-36″) and the toilet to to ceiling. It’s roughly 6 feet.

Unless that bathroom counter is 5′ tall its not a 9′ ceiling. I guess that would make spitting your toothpaste a little easier! LOL
They are 12×12″ tiles… The ceiling is barely 6’… clearly something I would not want in the lofted area of my 620k condo
It’s barely 6′
you’re right. i was looking at the picture of the bathroom taken from the bedroom. the pic of the full bathroom clearly shows the lower ceiling height
Yuck then…yuckier now.
