Trump Tower Penthouse Returns to the Market: 401 N. Wabash in River North
The 89th floor penthouse in Trump Tower at 401 N. Wabash in River North came on the market in September 2021.
Trump Tower was built in 2008 and has 486 units and an attached parking garage.
The hotel is on the lower floors and the condos are on the higher floors.
The building has a 14,000 square foot spa health club with a pool, outdoor space available to residents on the 16th floor, a club room and room service available directly to the condos.
It has door staff.
The condos have a separate entrance and elevators.
The listing says this penthouse has a private elevator accessed through a fob.
It has the entire top floor and has 360 degree views of the city and the Lake.
The penthouse has 19 foot ceilings in the living area with 18 foot floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
The listing says it is a “vanilla box” with just the walls and ceilings finished.
The buyer should “bring your own designer.”
There is no kitchen, bathrooms etc.
The listing says “Nothing like this has ever been or will ever be on the market again.”
According to Crain’s, the penthouse originally sold in 2014 for $17 million, which was a 53% reduction off the original asking price of $32 million.
The buyer was Sanjay Shah, the CEO of a suburban software firm.
According to Dennis Rodkin at Crain’s, Shah intended to finish building out the penthouse by 2018, but he never did.
Rafaeli also represented the penthouse at that time, and he told Chicago magazine that he expected finishing it into living space to cost between $4.2 million and $9.8 million at the going price for high-end finishes, up to $700 a square foot. Upper-end finishes now go for more like $1,000 a square foot, if not more, so finishing the space could run about $14 million, on top of the purchase price.
Rafaeli said in an email that Shah “did not complete the property because he became more focused on his business, which took a lot of time away from him. In addition, his two children are now grown and moved on, so it is a very large space for just two people.”
This unit has central air and heating and includes 4 parking spaces.
Listed for $30 million, is 2021, with the stock market near record highs, the perfect time to sell this penthouse?
Chezi Rafaeli at Coldwell Banker has the listing again. You can see the pictures and the floor plan here.

Pretty spectacular views. $/sf are close to what Kenny G paid on Walton. Don’t think this building has the same panache.
I wish I had FU money to pay near $500k/year (NIC debt service) to own a shell
“The greater fool is someone with the perfect blend of self-delusion and ego to think that he can succeed where others have failed”.
In 2014, Shah surfaced as Trump’s fool. Time will only tell if Shah can find a another fool to unload this property. I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump offers him $5MM to repurchase it in 2023.
The listing description is about 300 words and not one of those words is “Trump”. Does the realtor think that no one will figure out that this is Trump Tower?
“Does the realtor think that no one will figure out that this is Trump Tower?”
Umm, the first picture shows the building entry which explicitly says Trump International Hotel
At $40,000 a month for property tax and HOA combined I hope it includes a few parking spaces!
Certainly this is for a very limited buyers pool, and I sense it might have to fall toward $20 million to find someone. On the positive side, this is truly a unique space with arguably the best views of any residential unit in the city.
The negatives are there too, assuming you can afford it. That ugly stain of a sign on the building, for instance. The questions about whether the downtown real estate and office market can fully recover from Covid, the lack of outdoor space, and the fact that whoever buys it has a lot of work to do on the unit.
From just a few comments I can see TDS is still alive and thriving lol
There’s good reason to be “deranged” about a deranged maniac who tried his best to overthrow our democracy earlier this year. I’d argue if you don’t get deranged over him, you’re not seeing things clearly.
And speaking from my side, I got quite tired of the ODS that I saw for 8 years from you people under Obama. All the garbage about his birth and such.
“There’s good reason to be “deranged” about a deranged maniac who tried his best to overthrow our democracy earlier this year.”
LOL
If that was his best, you really dont have anything to be scared of.
Politics is the new religion.
“And speaking from my side, I got quite tired of the ODS that I saw for 8 years from you people under Obama. All the garbage about his birth and such.”
mmm yes, the irony is immense and the hypocrisy palpable.
Would this building be more or less prestigious without the Trump name on it? Would the units be more or less valuable without the Trump name on the building?
Rename this the Jan Terri tower and watch the values instantly skyrocket. LOLZ
“The questions about whether the downtown real estate and office market can fully recover from Covid, the lack of outdoor space, and the fact that whoever buys it has a lot of work to do on the unit.”
$10 million units in the St Regis are still closing, even during a pandemic.
Tribune Tower has also started closings and it’s selling for over $1,000 a square foot.
The rich aren’t having any trouble buying right now in the vicinity of Trump Tower.
But, as you said, Dan #2, there is a limited pool of buyers at this price point in Chicago. Heck, even at $15 million, there’s a limited pool. And you’d have to put another $10 million in it to build it out?
Most won’t want to do it. Even the rich don’t have vision. Yeah- they can hire designers to do everything. But most would rather just move into a finished unit in One Chicago, Tribune or the St Regis.
Fantastic views, however.
“The listing description is about 300 words and not one of those words is “Trump”. Does the realtor think that no one will figure out that this is Trump Tower?”
I noticed this too Madeline.
If you’re marketing it to foreign buyers, which the listing appears to be doing, then why mention any negative?
“If that was his best, you really dont have anything to be scared of.”
The first coup attempt in a democracy almost always fails JohnnyU.
It’s testing the system. Looking for weaknesses so they can adjust and succeed the next time.
Reminder, the Nazis failed in their first coup attempt in 1923.
I recommend everyone read How Democracies Die.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/commentisfree/2018/jan/21/this-is-how-democracies-die
“Would this building be more or less prestigious without the Trump name on it? Would the units be more or less valuable without the Trump name on the building?”
Everyone can agree that 401 Wabash is worth less today with the Trump name on it. Just check the resales over the past 24 months. I am sure if you interviewed every seller at Trump Tower they would acknowledge the Trump name is NOT lifting resale values in the building.
“The first coup attempt in a democracy almost always fails JohnnyU.
It’s testing the system. Looking for weaknesses so they can adjust and succeed the next time.”
Well he did say it was his best
What does success look like in this case?
Attempts to compare this to the Beerhall Putsch are fevered dreams of idiots afraid of their own shadows. I really dont see any risk of a painted Shaman wresting the levers of power away from the Feds. But then again I’m rational and not afraid of my shadow. 1/6 is the Qanon of the left
Could be spectacular!
I’m not saying this unit is a deal — there is little to compare it to. But I do love that there are plenty of deals in this building due to people not getting over the Trump presidency and letting their emotions take over. They’d literally rather lose hundreds of thousands than live in “bad orange man’s” domain.
As if the building is some kind of political statement. Lol!
KK –
I’d consider buying in the building if I could be sure none of my money ever went to Trump or anyone in his family (I mean the HOA part of my money). Even if some of it goes for room service at the hotel being available to building residents (not sure if that’s the case, but it’s my example), then I wouldn’t buy in the building, because Trump still owns the hotel, or at least I think he does.
The name in huge letters that can be read a mile away is a disgrace. Even if the name on it were “Obama” instead of Trump I’d say the same. It’s an ugly ad for a single person who obviously craves the worship and attention of everyone in the city due to his deep-rooted insecurity.
No one should be allowed to foul a building and destroy lovely view of the river that way. I felt the same when the “Karroll’s” sign overwhelmed the historic Reliance building on State Street back in the day.
“Attempts to compare this to the Beerhall Putsch are fevered dreams of idiots afraid of their own shadows. I really dont see any risk of a painted Shaman wresting the levers of power away from the Feds. But then again I’m rational and not afraid of my shadow. 1/6 is the Qanon of the left”
Read the book.
“They’d literally rather lose hundreds of thousands than live in “bad orange man’s” domain.”
I don’t think today’s sellers in the building are selling to make some kind of statement at this late point. I mean, it’s been nearly 5 years since Trump won.
Yes, values have fallen in the building. Even without it being Trump Tower, however, it would already face a lot of competition from all the newer luxury buildings. The kitchens and baths are now 13 years old. Tastes have changed. Different finishes are in style now. Luxury buyers want the current trends or you’re going to have to price it accordingly.
I’m assuming those who are selling in 2021, are doing so because they want to move, even if it means losing a lot of money. Otherwise, you wait in the building and hope values turn around over the next few years.
Life moves on. Some owners clearly don’t want to stay to see if it turns around.
“Read the book”
“This is how elected autocrats subvert democracy – packing and “weaponizing” the courts and other neutral agencies, buying off the media and the private sector (or bullying them into silence) and rewriting the rules of politics to tilt the playing field against opponents. The tragic paradox of the electoral route to authoritarianism is that democracy’s assassins use the very institutions of democracy – gradually, subtly, and even legally – to kill it.”
They really nailed the current administration
You never answered my question, what did success look like for the 1/6 “Coup”? The Shaman playing the role of Lord Humungus and the US turning into a Mad Max landscape?
Shah seems delusional at $30mill. IIRC this was $50mill way back when the bldg was brand new and it languished for years on the market. Price drop to $32 mill and it still languished for years. This was all before Trump was a villain and there was arguably some prestige to a Trump property.
Even Shah himself didn’t think it was worth $30mill 4 years ago and paid almost half of that at only $17mill. All he does to it is put up drywall and he thinks that makes it worth $30mill now? In a bldg that has seen resale values drop 30% in recent years? In a bldg who’s namesake is now notoriously despised?
Idk I bet he’ll be lucky if he gets his $17mill back.
(All that said it is a one of a kind unit with unbelievable 360 views for miles)
“You never answered my question, what did success look like for the 1/6 “Coup”?”
It DID succeed. That was the whole point. Obviously Trump wanted Pence to not certify the election, which he refused to do. And he then wanted the mob to “stop it” somehow, which is why Pence, Pelosi, Schumer and McConnell all believed it was imperative that they return to the Capitol that evening, once it was secure, to certify it. You couldn’t allow them to succeed on the certification.
As I said, there is always a first attempt. They literally breached security and were within steps of the Vice President as well as other Senators and Congressmen.
Other parts of the coup failed but, again, were testing the system, including the 6 point memo laid out by attorneys to the Vice President about how he could subvert a legit election and declare the loser the winner.
Much of Jan 6 failed because Trump is a poor politician and leader. The next person who attempts it might not be.
If you recall, there was a first attempt to take down the World Trade Center in 1993. They failed. They were mocked (renting the truck with their legit credit card? Dumb.)
Second attempt succeeded. Lessons were learned.
“You never answered my question, what did success look like for the 1/6 “Coup”?”
Additionally, there is literally like 25% of the Republican party who believes that Trump “won” 4 or 5 states in 2020 that he clearly lost. Those people still believe there was election fraud. They still believe the election was “stolen.”
Trump continues to attack democracy and the country’s institutions with every press release where he talks about election fraud.
Jan 6 DID succeed.
“It DID succeed. You couldn’t allow them to succeed on the certification.”
The only ones that think it accomplished anything are window lickers.
You should probably look up the definition of Coup. This wasnt one. If you actually believe that the country could be overthrown by 600 unarmed people ostensibly led by a painted up shaman, the country deserves to fail.
“If you recall, there was a first attempt to take down the World Trade Center in 1993. They failed. They were mocked (renting the truck with their legit credit card? Dumb.)”
You are certifiable.
“Additionally, there is literally like 25% of the Republican party who believes that Trump “won” 4 or 5 states in 2020 that he clearly lost. Those people still believe there was election fraud. They still believe the election was “stolen.””
And the left said the same after Hillary lost. The idiot extremists of both parties are choads
“Trump continues to attack democracy and the country’s institutions with every press release where he talks about election fraud.”
I’ll believe that you are operating in some sort of good faith when you hold the same convictions for both parties.
I dont recall you denouncing Hillary for similar statements – https://news.yahoo.com/hillary-clinton-claims-presidential-election-220135269.html
Until that point you are nothing more than a bleating partisan shill.
Do you ever feel any embarrassment?
“If you actually believe that the country could be overthrown by 600 unarmed people ostensibly led by a painted up shaman, the country deserves to fail.”
They were led by the President of the United States.
The size of the group is irrelevant, as history has shown.
And if rushing into Congress to kill the Vice President and/or stop the certification of a legitimate national election isn’t an attempt to overthrow democracy, what is it? Just out having a fun day?
Perhaps we need to teach more global history in this country.
We have gotten too lax. We have taken our democracy for granted. This was but the first of an authoritarian attempt to subvert the constitution. They will try again.
Tired of the “whataboutisms.”
Hillary Clinton NEVER even had recounts! LMFAO.
She called Trump the night of the election to congratulate him. And she has NEVER called Trump illegitimate, fake or whatever other stupid things Trump continues to call Biden.
They will try again. It’s what authoritarians do.
Jan 6 was a domestic terrorist attack against the United States.
“Additionally, there is literally like 25% of the Republican party who believes that Trump “won” 4 or 5 states in 2020 that he clearly lost. Those people still believe there was election fraud. They still believe the election was “stolen.” ”
We’ll see on Friday I guess if those “crazy conspiracy theorists” were right or not
lol look at what the prosecutors were trying to throw out regarding 1/6
https://youtu.be/iiKyOXKtf-U?t=66
you political hacks need to turn off the news programming
its making you sick in the head and completely lacking in any sort of critical thought ?
“The size of the group is irrelevant, as history has shown.”
Link?
“And if rushing into Congress to kill the Vice President and/or stop the certification of a legitimate national election isn’t an attempt to overthrow democracy, what is it? Just out having a fun day?”
Who exactly has been arrested/charged for attempting to murder the VP?
How were these 600 or so unarmed folks going to stop the election certification?
“Perhaps we need to teach more global history in this country”
If you’re an indication of the quality of product CPS puts out, I completely agree
“Tired of the “whataboutisms.”
Hillary Clinton NEVER even had recounts! LMFAO.
You’re tired of the Whataboutisms because it highlights your stupidity and hypocrisy. Note you said Election fraud, Its the same thing that Hillary claimed. Why do you have to lie so much? Seeing how you’ve been caught in another lie, you attempt to move the goal posts and bring up recounts? If this is how you operate in real life, it must be a sad, lonely existence
“They will try again. It’s what authoritarians do.”
You mean like stacking the supreme court?, Using tech & the press to bury stories (Hi Hunter & the Big guy)?, border crisis? One of the many differences between us is that I can call bullshit out on both parties, you cannot. People of your ilk are terrible people. Only concerned about power and the means of obtaining it are flexible
“Jan 6 was a domestic terrorist attack against the United States.”
It wasnt. If it was, please post a link to anyone charged with anything related to Terrorism. Otherwise its just more BS emanating from your fantasy world
“We have gotten too lax. We have taken our democracy for granted. This was but the first of an authoritarian attempt to subvert the constitution. They will try again.
Tired of the “whataboutisms.”
Hillary Clinton NEVER even had recounts! LMFAO”
Remind me again how many democratic house members voted against certifying the 2016 election?
Remind me again what the lefts reaction was in 2000 bush v. gore?
But yeah, 2020 is when we took “democracy for granted”
Further, explain carpetbagging and google where these imbeciles on both the right and left grew up, went to college, and subsequently lived at for decades both all of a sudden represent another state or a district in some random state. But yeah keep yelling but “DEMOCRACY”.
How does Mitt Romney become Governor of Massachusetts and then a US Senator from Utah?
You bring up Hillary Clinton how the hell could she be the Senator of New York in 2001? She was never a dang resident of the State up until then.
Elizabeth Warren being a Senator for Massachusetts you can at least understand given her work at Harvard
Majorie Taylor Greene literally moved to that district in Georgia in order to make it to Congress
Ron DeSantis never stepped foot in Florida until he decided to become a politician
Allen West was a Rep in Florida now a Rep in Texas. Moved so he can run the Texas Republican Party.
Does any of this sound like representative democracy?
Heck, the easiest path for Trump to become President is for Florida to remap his Mara Lago house into a republican district. He wins a seat becomes Speaker and just needs a puppet with an (r) next to their name to win in 24.
“Some Democratic House members attempted to object to some states Electoral College votes to protest the election results. But their objections went nowhere because they were unable to gain the support of a senator, per the rules.”
“Democrats objected 11 times, citing a variety of issues, including “Russian interference,” “massive voter suppression” and the “violation of the Voting Rights Act.”
“But a handful of Democratic House members continued to object during specific states and tried to continue their speeches even after Biden gaveled them down and said debate is not allowed. After the states were counted, three citizens in the audience gallery stood up to demonstrate.”
“House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said she was not encouraging objections but that she would “support” them.”
“In 2001, when Democrats objected after the contested election between George Bush and Vice President Al Gore”

““We have gotten too lax. We have taken our democracy for granted. This was but the first of an authoritarian attempt to subvert the constitution. They will try again.”
Yeah We should just let Google, Facebook, the CIA/FBI & Media decide who will be president. I get why that appealing to you – You’re not very bright and dont like to think. Donning a pink hat is easy, thinking is difficult
JFC, you are so blinded by Parisian politics you dont know which way is up
“and she has NEVER called Trump illegitimate, fake or whatever other stupid things Trump continues to call Biden.”
Washington Post article in 2019: Hillary Clinton: Trump is an “illegitimate President” literally the headline of the story. Please explain how she never did this?
“Hillary Clinton dismissed President Trump as an “illegitimate president” and suggested that “he knows” that he stole the 2016 presidential election in a CBS News interview to be aired Sunday.”
“Clinton also predicted Trump would lose in 2020 because “there were many funny things that happened in my election that will not happen again.”
Really promoting Democracy there…..

“Jan 6 was a domestic terrorist attack against the United States.”
What terrorist group was this…QAnon? It was a bunch of dingbats who were rightfully arrested and charged as appropriate by the BIDEN FBI/DOJ not as terrorists…..
“They will try again. It’s what authoritarians do.”
Explain how this future “authoritarian” undermines and usurps civilian control of the military?
“The first coup attempt in a democracy almost always fails JohnnyU.”
That would be news to the Queens Rangers…. Also feel free to google Shay’s Rebellion, Dorr Rebellion, Battle of Liberty Place, Joseph Brooks, how Hawaii became part of the US (was part of Britain), Wilmington Insurrection of 1898, attempted overthrow of FDR in 1933.
All of these “coups” and “insurrections” happened in the US. January 6 doesn’t look close at all to these. But feel free to make it a thing.
Oh I forgot to throw in how many US Presidents have been assassinated (attempted or successful).
“Trump continues to attack democracy and the country’s institutions”
One party has absolute control of Congress and the White House yet can’t even pass a budget and the Government appears likely to shutdown October 1 i.e. next Friday….. BUT TRUMP…..
Yet Biden undermined the FDA on booster shots to the point 3 top FDA officials resigned because Biden wouldn’t “follow the science”….. BUT TRUMP is undermining the institutions.
20 years of nation building and $2Tn+ dollars down the drain to military industrial contractors…. BUT TRUMP
Congress passes a bill allocating money to prevent mass eviction but States and local officials can’t figure out how to administer the program 6+ months later….. BUT TRUMP
Good lord.
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/08/31/biden-booster-plan-fda-508149
They will try again.
But like other terrorist organizations, they are now being more heavily monitored for “chatter” by police/FBI. I’m hopeful they will be able to stop the next attempt well ahead of time.
“How were these 600 or so unarmed folks going to stop the election certification?”
How’d they kill 6 police officers and injure dozens more?
Stop gaslighting it JohnnyU. But sadly, this is why our democracy is at risk. The propaganda works on weak minds. After all, 25% of Republican voters thought Trump would be “restored” to the Presidency in mid-August.
When they try the Proud Boy defendants you will see what the “plan” was, right?
Or maybe when they catch the guy who planted the pipe bombs?
Yeah- that’s “normal.” That’s not a terrorist action.
LMFAO.
“One party has absolute control…”
No. Have you ever heard of the filibuster? And do you think the Democrats are one solid unit that votes together? They don’t have big enough majorities in either the House or the Senate to get anything done because a few Dems on the far right and far left can scuttle anything they don’t like.
Try again.
Also- if you hear us say, “But Trump…” now you know how we’ve felt for four years listening to your side say, “But Obama,” or “But Hillary…”
“after all, 25% of Republican voters thought Trump would be “restored” to the Presidency in mid-August.”
And 25% of Democratic Voters yelled “not my President” for 4 years….
“It wasnt. If it was, please post a link to anyone charged with anything related to Terrorism. Otherwise its just more BS emanating from your fantasy world”
Of course it was.
Same as Timothy McVeigh’s attack was.
Both targeting the government. Both meant to kill.
Again. They WILL try again. I’m not worried about Trump as he’s not running again. He has bigger problems like a $100 million debt payment with no way to pay it and numerous legal challenges that probably won’t go his way. But someone smarter with actual political skill could take his place.
Our democracy is at risk.
Here’s the charges filed against 4 of the Proud Boys.
The indictment unsealed Friday charges the defendants — Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zach Rehl and Charles Donohoe — with six counts, including obstruction of an official proceeding, obstruction of law enforcement, destruction of government property and conspiracy.
https://www.npr.org/2021/03/19/979304432/4-proud-boys-charged-with-conspiracy-over-jan-6-capitol-riot
“No. Have you ever heard of the filibuster?”
First explain how the filibuster impacts reconciliation oh wait the whole point of reconciliation is to bypass the filibuster but whatevs.
Once you comprehend that why not oh I don’t know get rid of the filibuster….. Choosing not to do something is still a choice.
” And do you think the Democrats are one solid unit that votes together”
I think they should be able to pass a budget so the Government doesn’t shut-down. So on that issue yes.
“They don’t have big enough majorities in either the House or the Senate to get anything done”
Explain how the bipartisan infrastructure bill got passed in the Senate if the majorities “aren’t big enough”? The house is choosing not to get anything done.
“because a few Dems on the far right and far left can scuttle anything they don’t like.”
At least 49 or 20%+ isn’t a “few” in the house neither is 8 or 16% in the house a “few”.
“now you know how we’ve felt for four years listening to your side say, “But Obama,” or “But Hillary”
My side? What side is that? LOL. All politicians are spineless, soulless, leaches – republican and democrat. But, yes “my side”.
“One party has absolute control of Congress and the White House yet can’t even pass a budget and the Government appears likely to shutdown October 1 i.e. next Friday….. BUT TRUMP…..”
I see that you have no defense of Trump’s behavior so you have to pivot to something completely unrelated.
Why are you bringing up the budget when Trump is out there sending out incendiary press releases every week?
When was the last budget shut down of the government?
Oh wait…
If you want to engage in a legitimate discussion of what the Biden Administration is doing in its first year, then I’m all for it. Nancy and Chuck will get it through, including the big infrastructure package that 3 other presidents all tried, and failed, to do.
Biden will go down in history as one of the most important presidents of the last 50 years if he can get that $3.5 trillion package, or something close to it, through.
All with a 1 vote advantage in the Senate.
Damn. Sizzle.
But we’ll see. Biden is going to have to use all of his political skills to do it but if anyone can, it’s him. Also helps that he has Nancy who has complete control over her caucus, so far.
And if Mitch pushes the debt ceiling to the brink, he will regret it as Wall Street will make its displeasure known soon enough like it did in 2011. McConnell got Obama to blink in 2011, but Biden remembers that all too well and will not do so this go around.
Ronald Reagan called anyone using the debt ceiling as blackmail “terrorists.”
“And 25% of Democratic Voters yelled “not my President” for 4 years….”
This is the same thing as living in a delusional world thinking that Trump is STILL the president?
You need serious counseling if you think that’s the same thing.
People have been saying, “not my president” about every president of the opposing party since 1776. But I don’t think anyone was saying Richard Nixon was still the president in 1977 and would be “restored” back into the Oval.
Come on.
“Our democracy is at risk.”
Just like when the shooting occurred at the Congressional Baseball Game by a Bernie bro from Illinois who wanted to stop the healthcare vote by republicans?
“He has bigger problems like a $100 million debt payment”
Huh? You honestly think he personally guarantees the properties? Ok….
“numerous legal challenges that probably won’t go his way”
That’s why he still fundraises. Problem solved. Dems have been talking about his legal issues for what 6 years now? Let me know when this huge legal loss or indictment occurs. I’ll be long dead before that happens.
“How’d they kill 6 police officers and injure dozens more?”
Link? One police officer died and it was due to a medical condition
“Stop gaslighting it JohnnyU. But sadly, this is why our democracy is at risk. The propaganda works on weak minds. After all, 25% of Republican voters thought Trump would be “restored” to the Presidency in mid-August.”
Stop Posting drunk Sabrina.
You’re making shit up and regurgitating everything you hear on MSNBC
“When they try the Proud Boy defendants you will see what the “plan” was, right?
Or maybe when they catch the guy who planted the pipe bombs?
Yeah- that’s “normal.” That’s not a terrorist action.”
What are they charged with?
See you dont get to make up definitions aka Sabrina doesnt like something doenst mean its terrorism.
You will make a great Anti-Human someday
WP’s comparison of Bush v. Gore to the ridiculous election challenges of this past year is beyond ridiculous. (also the comparison to 2016, but just to remind everyone about 2000:
In the 2000 election, the votes for Bush were only a few hundred ahead of Gore, and there were specific identified concerns about the machines not accurately counting every vote on approximately 60,000 ballots (hanging chads, for those that may recall). A change in the Florida result would have given Gore a 21 vote Electoral College victory. So, a clear issue, a vote difference of hundreds, not tens of thousands, and a case where just one state would have changed the result.
In the ridiculousness of the past year, a sore loser (and his supporters) yelled vague charges of fraud/cheating for months before the election and then immediately during the night as the vote tallies showed him losing. Was there ever any factual basis to any of the fraud claims? Usually it’s best to start with facts before claiming fraud. The only “facts” here were the belief by many Trumpsters that there’s no way Trump shouldn’t have won, so there must be dirty tricks. Yet a year later, no evidence other than doctored youtube videos and a lot of vague theories about voting machines, Italy, German, China, bamboo fibers, etc., and amplified suggestions from the past about double voting, dead people voting, lack of signature verification, etc. A lot of random claims by people who thought they saw something (usually they didn’t understand what they were witnessing) & then those random claims have echoed across social media
But–nothing concrete & supported with facts to suggest any ONE state’s results were wrong, much less the 5 states needed. And here we are almost a year later with so many Trumpsters still convinced that there was fraud and their guy really won “by a landslide!!” They were all primed to believe there would be fraud, and so they do. It’s really sad for the future of our democracy!
“Here’s the charges filed against 4 of the Proud Boys.
The indictment unsealed Friday charges the defendants — Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zach Rehl and Charles Donohoe — with six counts, including obstruction of an official proceeding, obstruction of law enforcement, destruction of government property and conspiracy.
https://www.npr.org/2021/03/19/979304432/4-proud-boys-charged-with-conspiracy-over-jan-6-capitol-riot”
Yeah, no. None of that is terrorism.
Stop day drinking
“Huh? You honestly think he personally guarantees the properties? Ok….”
He has no wealth. But he has guaranteed it with Trump Tower NY, his only real asset.
So yeah. He has personally guaranteed it.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-17/trump-tower-loan-moved-to-watch-list-as-retail-occupancy-falls
The debt, sponsored by the former president himself, is secured by the 244,482 square feet (22,700 square meters) of office and retail space in Trump Tower. Occupancy has dipped to 78.9% from 85.9% at the end of 2020, according to Wells Fargo, the master servicer of the loan. Revenue from the property was $33.7 million in 2020, according to the loan documents. In the first quarter of 2021, it was $7.5 million.
“Biden will go down in history as one of the most important presidents of the last 50 years if he can get that $3.5 trillion package, or something close to it, through. ”
LOL Biden will go down as the worst president in the last 50 years if he even makes it through his first term
wasting 3.5 trillion dollars on pork isn’t going to save his rapidly declining mental state
“Of course it was.
Same as Timothy McVeigh’s attack was.
Both targeting the government. Both meant to kill.”
Proud Boy Charges – ncluding obstruction of an official proceeding, obstruction of law enforcement, destruction of government property and conspiracy
McVeigh charges – onspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, use of a weapon of mass destruction, destruction with the use of explosives, and eight counts of first-degree murder
Yeah they’re practically the same thing LOL
How drunk are you? Has your family disowned you for being batshit crazy? Enjoy the Flavoraid!
“I see that you have no defense of Trump’s behavior so you have to pivot to something completely unrelated.”
He’s not the President and as you said “he’s not running again”….. But he still rents space in your head.
“Why are you bringing up the budget when Trump is out there sending out incendiary press releases every week?”
Because he isn’t the President? Unless you think he still is? Are you Q?
“When was the last budget shut down of the government?”
This is relevant how?
“Biden will go down in history as one of the most important presidents of the last 50 years if he can get that $3.5 trillion package, or something close to it, through”
Explain to me what the $3.5Tn does? I keep hearing numbers but little substance.
“All with a 1 vote advantage in the Senate.”
It’s 50/50. Kamala isn’t in the Senate unless you think Trump is still President.
“Biden is going to have to use all of his political skills to do it but if anyone can, it’s him.”
Oh good lord. As Obama said “don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to bleep something up”
“Also helps that he has Nancy who has complete control over her caucus, so far.”
LOL. Ok…. she punted to the Senate because she doesn’t have control. The Senate passes the infrastructure bill hey Senate pass another bill because we can’t pass your bi-partisan bill in the house…
“And if Mitch pushes the debt ceiling to the brink, he will regret it as Wall Street will make its displeasure known soon enough like it did in 2011″
Pelosi and Schumer could have put it in the reconciliation package but didn’t. More importantly who is in the majority and who is in the white house. Blame the Minority leader in the Senate. Let me know how that works.
” McConnell got Obama to blink in 2011, but Biden remembers that all too well and will not do so this go around.”
Because Presidents own. McConnell knows that. His strategy is gumming up the rest of the Biden agenda with this move and Biden getting the blame for a government shut-down and debt ceiling disaster.
“Ronald Reagan called anyone using the debt ceiling as blackmail “terrorists.”
Ronald Regan is also dead and most people today weren’t alive so who cares today what Regan thought 35 years ago?
“sponsored by the former president himself”
“Sponsored” does not mean “guarantee”. Good luck.
“In the ridiculousness of the past year, a sore loser (and his supporters) yelled vague charges of fraud/cheating for months before the election and then immediately during the night as the vote tallies showed him losing. While I agree, this did start in the previous election. Its emboldened both retarded ends of the 2 parties bases
““How’d they kill 6 police officers and injure dozens more?””
well they didn’t for one… one dude died of a heart attack while on duty and capital police shot some woman in the head
how many people died during the BLM riots last may? 19 to be exact
“He’s not the President and as you said “he’s not running again”….. But he still rents space in your head.”
Yes- because he is STILL attempting a coup.
No one else is going on Fox whining about how an election that is a year old was “stolen” from him when there is not even a shred of evidence of anything of the sort. He’s still undermining our democracy, the elections and our institutions.
They will try again. All patriots must be vigilant.
“Ok…. she punted to the Senate because she doesn’t have control.”
Oh, simple minds who have no idea what is going on on the Hill. Lol.
“Because Presidents own. McConnell knows that. His strategy is gumming up the rest of the Biden agenda with this move and Biden getting the blame for a government shut-down and debt ceiling disaster.”
Remember when Newt Gingrich shut down the government and thought Bill would get the blame?
Lol.
Mitch has voted to raise the debt ceiling 97 times.
When Wall Street spanks down stocks by 20% or more, who’s going to get blamed?
Poor Mitch. It’s going to lead to crushing losses in 2022. As it should.
What complete incompetence.
““Biden will go down in history as one of the most important presidents of the last 50 years if he can get that $3.5 trillion package, or something close to it, through. ”

Funny how more and more info is being leaked wrt Hunter’s laptop. The Big Guy needs to be careful.
I’m sure Sabrina will inform us that this is all part of an elaborate DJT/Proud Boys/Qanon plan.
Shit their actually breaking news about the border situation, Good job Joe! Put more people in GITMO
“Remember when Newt Gingrich shut down the government and thought Bill would get the blame?”
Joe aint Bill. He’ll go off the rails when having to address any questions and get exposed as a feeble old man
LOL
“Because Presidents own. McConnell knows that.”
Obama was re-elected in 2012, by the way.
As I said, Biden was there in 2011. He will not blink like Obama. Obama himself did not blink in 2013 when Mitch tried it a second time. The Democrats are tired of being held hostage over it.
No more.
Wall Street will make their disfavor known if the Republicans go down that path.
Shameful.
“Joe aint Bill. He’ll go off the rails when having to address any questions and get exposed as a feeble old man”
Correct. Bill didn’t have 50 years experience in Washington and was never Vice President. Also had no real skill on Capitol Hill.
“Obama was re-elected in 2012, by the way.
As I said, Biden was there in 2011. He will not blink like Obama. Obama himself did not blink in 2013 when Mitch tried it a second time. The Democrats are tired of being held hostage over it.
No more.”
Joe isnt Barak either.
“Wall Street will make their disfavor known if the Republicans go down that path.”
So they’ll continue to increase they’re donations to Dems?
Wernt you just whining about something to do with Democracy and patriots and now what Wall St wants should direct policy?
“Shameful.”
Yes you are, yes you are
“Funny how more and more info is being leaked wrt Hunter’s laptop. The Big Guy needs to be careful.”
Who cares about Hunter Biden?
Did anyone care when Don Jr was banned from running a charity because he stole from one?
No.
Last I checked, Hunter is not the president. Neither was Jimmy Carter’s brother. Neither was Bill’s half-brother Roger.
If Biden gets through that $3.5 trillion package it will seriously transform American life. I hope they’re able to get through Bernie’s changes to Medicare which includes both dental and vision. Just that provision alone will be transformative.
But we will see.
The $1 trillion infrastructure plan MUST be passed. And overwhelmingly. By both parties. America is so far behind. The pandemic exposed how horrible it is in the rural areas for broadband. The kids couldn’t even go to school at home because it was so bad.
“Correct. Bill didn’t have 50 years experience in Washington and was never Vice President. Also had no real skill on Capitol Hill.”
Except being the most charismatic president in my life time, better than Reagan (JFK before my time). He mopped the floor w/ Newt (And Newt had pretty favorable ratings at the time)
Bill could sell ice to an Eskimo, Joe couldn’t convince a hooker to sleep with Him holding a bag full of money
Seriously, put the wine down and go outside for a walk
“Joe isnt Barak either.”
Correct. If it wasn’t for Joe, there would be no Obamacare because he lived on Capitol Hill to get that passed.
You all are underestimating his great political skills. Being president is still about getting legislation passed. Trump had NO political skills. Obama had political skills but none on Capitol Hill. Too introverted and “cold.” Never just had beers with the gang. But Joe was IN the gang. And still likes hanging out with them.
“Wernt you just whining about something to do with Democracy and patriots and now what Wall St wants should direct policy?”
When it comes to the economy, Wall Street is the sane one in the room.
Why did TARP pass?
Because a 7% one day sell off in the stock market is kind of convincing.
“Who cares about Hunter Biden?”
Intelligent people who dont regurgitate what ever MSNBC tells them.
There plenty of info regarding pay to play with Hunter and his Daddy AKA – The Big Guy
I wonder How a crack addict was going to help Libya get its funds unfrozen when Daddy was VP?
So much for Russian disinformation.
“Except being the most charismatic president in my life time, better than Reagan (JFK before my time). He mopped the floor w/ Newt (And Newt had pretty favorable ratings at the time)”
He did?
Bill’s approval rating was in the toilet. Republicans had won back the House for the first time in like 75 years or whatever it was. Newt had all the momentum but forgot that people don’t actually want the government to shut down or to see the country become a credit risk because we don’t raise the debt ceiling. American voters actually don’t like chaos.
But here we go again.
Debt ceiling deadline is in mid-October.
Buckle up.
“Seriously, put the wine down and go outside for a walk”
Yawn. Has to resort to the sexist tropes again when he has no argument.
Sad.
“I wonder How a crack addict was going to help Libya get its funds unfrozen when Daddy was VP?”
Hunter was on crack 13 years ago? I honestly don’t know when he had his drug problems. I thought it was after Beau’s death.
A Vice President can unilaterally “unfreeze” a country’s frozen accounts?
Dang. I wonder what Pence was doing the last 4 years then.
“You all are underestimating his great political skills. Being president is still about getting legislation passed. Trump had NO political skills. Obama had political skills but none on Capitol Hill. Too introverted and “cold.” Never just had beers with the gang. But Joe was IN the gang. And still likes hanging out with them.”
You’re conflating the Joe Biden from 10 years ago to the Biden of today. The Joe Biden of today is a shell of his former self
Theres a ton of difference between being a CEO Vs a VP
“Dang. I wonder what Pence was doing the last 4 years then.”
Pence’s kids wernt soliciting Libya for $2MM/yr + a success fee for unfreezing their assets
So probably working for the best interests (As he saw it) of the country or nothing at all.
If sure Libya was entertaining it as Hunter is such a smart guy, LOL. Probably views Gov Fat Fuck as a role model
“A Vice President can unilaterally “unfreeze” a country’s frozen accounts?”
So what happened to The Big Guy’s political skills?
“As I said, Biden was there in 2011. He will not blink like Obama. Obama himself did not blink in 2013 when Mitch tried it a second time. The Democrats are tired of being held hostage over it.”
In 2011 and 2013 Democrats did not have majorities in both the house and senate. Can’t make claims as “being held hostage” when Dems have the majority in both. Legislate or become the minority again.
“He did?
Bill’s approval rating was in the toilet. Republicans had won back the House for the first time in like 75 years or whatever it was. Newt had all the momentum but forgot that people don’t actually want the government to shut down or to see the country become a credit risk because we don’t raise the debt ceiling. American voters actually don’t like chaos.
But here we go again.”
He did
The first shutdown his approval was > than disaproval 53-38
Second was lower 42-49, but shot right back up by the end of January
Do you ever get tired of being wrong and talking out your ass?
You’re constant attempts a re-writing history would make Goebbels blush.
Joe’s approvals 43% and has been slipping for a while (AWhile having a compliant press minimizing all of his failures). McConnell knows he’s weak, Kamala is basically “Where’s waldo” at this point. Chucky and Nancy aint going to expend any political capital as the calculus is clear – Helping Joe wont help them keep the House/Senate and Joe cant give a rallying speech to energized anyone.
“When it comes to the economy, Wall Street is the sane one in the room.
Why did TARP pass?
Because a 7% one day sell off in the stock market is kind of convincing.”
That doesnt sound like Democracy to me
“In 2011 and 2013 Democrats did not have majorities in both the house and senate. Can’t make claims as “being held hostage” when Dems have the majority in both. Legislate or become the minority again.”
Correct. The Republicans held Obama hostage as they had both chambers. Twice. He told them to take a leap the second time.
Biden has already told Mitch to take a leap this time.
It’s only going to end one way: badly. For the Republicans.
“Pence’s kids wernt soliciting Libya for $2MM/yr + a success fee for unfreezing their assets”
How do we know? They were adults while their dad was VP. I have no idea what they were doing. Do you?
“So what happened to The Big Guy’s political skills?”
The Office of Foreign Asset Controls under the purview of the Department of Treasury is in charge of freezing, or unfreezing, foreign assets.
So if Hunter Biden was marketing himself to the Libyans as the guy who could get their assets unfrozen, then the joke was on them.
“You’re conflating the Joe Biden from 10 years ago to the Biden of today. The Joe Biden of today is a shell of his former self”
Nope. I’m not. He has even more experience versus 10 years ago, actually.
I’m not saying he’s the 40 year old Joe Biden. Not at all. I don’t believe he will run for re-election as he really doesn’t like the job of being president after all. He calls the White House “the tomb” and isn’t spending any weekends there.
And if the Democrats lose the House in 2022, nothing will get done for 2 years anyway.
He will have righted the ship by then. These big initiatives will have been pushed through. He will hand it over to someone else having done the job he set out to do.
“That doesnt sound like Democracy to me”
People should elect better representatives so that former Treasury secretaries don’t have to warn the politicians of the catastrophe that is coming.
“Sonies: We’ll see on Friday I guess if those “crazy conspiracy theorists” were right or not”
Any comments now, given that in the “fraudit” effort, the Cyberninja’s one-sided audit, with no protections/controls/bipartisanship apparently (based upon reporting this morning) still came up with the finding that there were actually more votes for Biden in Maricopa county than the official results?
I have to give them more credit for honesty than I would have expected. Now will the Trumpkins say:
1) That’s only Maricopa county; The fraud must have occurred everywhere else but there.
2) The fraudsters must have done such a good job covering their tracks that even a “forensic audit” couldn’t find their dirty deeds;
3) The Cyber Ninjas must all be RINO’s or were bought off by the Libs/dems/socialists
4) All of the above?
5) No comment
Thats pretty funny, maybe it will get the Q tards to go back into their mothers basements and finally shut the hell up… hahah who am I kidding
“You all are underestimating his great political skills. Being president is still about getting legislation passed”
And I know you’re a liberal moron and all but any time the government does nothing, the economy and quality of life for american thrives… basic econ 101 shit right here
“And I know you’re a liberal moron and all but any time the government does nothing, the economy and quality of life for american thrives… basic econ 101 shit right here”
Really?
Bridges, broadband expansion, highways, railroads, the $20 billion we spent to shore up the levies around New Orleans, none of that mattered to Americans quality of life or the economy?
Kids should still be working in factories at 10 years old?
Section 230 didn’t unleash the possibilities of the Internet?
NASA didn’t contribute to America’s expertise in technology?
Tsk, tsk.
“I have to give them more credit for honesty than I would have expected. Now will the Trumpkins say:”
Sonies will have no comment JAH because he and homedelete still believe in the Big Lie.
But I will respond.
Apparently, Trump will shift to: but there were all these people who voted multiple times who had the same name so THAT was the fraud. Cyberninja didn’t check on that in their review.
So if John E Smith voted 3 times in Maricopa county, he might have also voted in 4 other counties in Arizona (same name but different person.)
I still don’t see how that equals thousands of votes. But apparently that’s the direction they are going.
It all just shows how absurd it is.
“ People should elect better representatives so that former Treasury secretaries don’t have to warn the politicians of the catastrophe that is coming.”
I’m sure you’d have a different song & dance with a GOP Secretary
Cause consistency is one of your hallmarks
“Section 230 didn’t unleash the possibilities of the Internet? ”
lol stop trolling
“lol stop trolling”
Of course it did. Without it, there wouldn’t be social media. There wouldn’t be Twitter or this blog. There wouldn’t be ANY blogs.
Who’s the one who is “trolling” sonies? You are.
Government regulations don’t do anything?
The richest countries on earth aren’t those with pure capitalism (there aren’t any of those anyway.)
Who wants our kids working in factories? Who wants to not be paid double for over time? Who wants to live in a country without Medicare or Medicaid?
Do you want to live in a country without ANY unemployment or food stamps?
We’ve had that country. It was a crappy place to live.
Notice how sonies never responded about the Big Lie.
The Cyber Ninja report doesn’t fit the narrative.
Let’s forget about politics and talk about this penthouse. Whether you approve of Trump or not (and I don’t), his buildings are perfectly alright in their class.
The worst thing you can say about this attractive penthouse is that it suffers by comparison with newer offerings in the same rarified class, which is a penthouse in a super-high, super-luxury tower. This place now has to compete with the St Regis (Vista) Tower, 451 E Grand, Tribune Tower Condos, and no 9 Walton buildings, which are more stylish and up-to-date. On the good side, it’s a huge space with extremely high ceilings and huge windows, that has many design possibilities. The HOA, at slightly less than $1 per sq ft, may seem rather high, at more than $1 a sq ft, but this building is a full amenity building with hotel services, and super-high buildings are more costly per square foot to operate and maintain than those, say, under 40 stories. These buildings need platinum-plated maintenance to be safe and functional, and you also need a huge payroll of highly trained staff to handle things like firefighting, plus maintenance of all the machinery that comes with with a massive, and extremely high building.
$30 Million seems awfully high, though, but $20 Million might do it.
“$30 Million seems awfully high, though, but $20 Million might do it.”
The problem is, that since he bought it in 2014, there have been other, newer, mega-tall buildings built.
They all have penthouses with amazing views as well. Lots of competition in buildings like the St Regis.
But with the luxury market so hot, now IS the time to at least list this because you may get that once in a decade buyer.
“These buildings need platinum-plated maintenance to be safe and functional, and you also need a huge payroll of highly trained staff to handle things like firefighting, plus maintenance of all the machinery that comes with with a massive, and extremely high building.”
Staff is fighting fires?
What mechanical systems are different between this and say a 40 story building? Larger yes but they’re going to have the same machinery Chillers, Boilers, AHU, pumps, VAVs (Hopefully), etc.
“Staff is fighting fires?”
Staff is maintaining the elevators? Isn’t that (and most of the rest of the specialized stuff) done via maintenance contract with the appropriate provider?
Yes, things like maintaining the elevators is done by contract with a company that specializes in that, but that is a major expense, as is maintaining the other machinery in the building. There is a lot of machinery, like emergency generators, boilers and heaters, the pool.
However, maintenance people in super-high buildings are often trained to fight fires in these buildings. They also do all the minor repairs and adjustments on boilers, pool equipment, electrical, and plumbing. There are also usually numerous housekeepers to keep the common areas absolutely pristine as expected. Even in my modest 66 unit courtyard, our maintenance men are pool-certified, CPR certified, and mind the boilers, the pool heater and other equipment, and they do small plumbing and mechanical repairs, while major ones are done by companies that service this equipment.
There are also many types of insurance- the building insurance, workman’s comp, separate roof insurance, liability insurance, D&O insurance,to name a few.
“maintenance people in super-high buildings are often trained to fight fires in these buildings”
Just realized that I’ve probably missed 2 or 3 office fire drills since March 2020. There’s one silver lining of the pandemic.
“Just realized that I’ve probably missed 2 or 3 office fire drills since March 2020. There’s one silver lining of the pandemic.”
come on who doesn’t love standing in someone elses elevator lobby for 25 minutes and wanting to murder your coworkers you never see for asking dumb questions that can be answered by common sense
Johnny – did you notice two of the former Treasury secs warning of disaster due to the Republican’s jockeying with the debt ceiling are Republicans themselves? Including Mnuchin, who was Trump’s Treasury Sec the entire four years?
So this isn’t some partisan thing. There are bipartisan warnings that the GOP is taking us down a road to disaster.
Also, a GOP Sec of Treasury would never be in this position in the first place because Dems don’t believe in playing political football with the country’s reputation of paying its debt. The Dems joined Republicans in raising the debt ceiling when Trump was president, and he signed it into law. No fights.
“Also, a GOP Sec of Treasury would never be in this position in the first place because Dems don’t believe in playing political football with the country’s reputation of paying its debt.”
Democrats actually know how to govern. Republicans have lost all semblance of that.
The debt ceiling has always been raised. It’s not a political issue unless you’re Mitch McConnell and decide to make it so.
They should be ashamed of themselves. Like I said before, Ronald Reagan called anyone using the debt ceiling for political gain a terrorist.
But nothing shames them. Not even supporting an insurrection against the constitution.
“There are bipartisan warnings that the GOP is taking us down a road to disaster.”
Amazing that this is a GOP issue, when the Dems have control over both houses and cant even get their own party on the same page.
Is Bipartisan in your usage code for do what ever will maximize Wall St bonuses?
“Also, a GOP Sec of Treasury would never be in this position in the first place because Dems don’t believe in playing political football with the country’s reputation of paying its debt. John, generally I think you are a pretty intelligent person but you’re beginning to reason like the mouth breathing site owner.
Do you recall why and what Mnuchin had to give Pelosi to get her on board? Let me know what moves the Biden Admin has done to get any GOP support? The issue for the Dems is that Nancy cant get everyone on the same page and get any GOP support. At the end of the day she’s going to bling and gut the Progressive caucus to get the GOP on board. The Brave squad will bow to Cersi and vote present
Its really getting embarrassing how people can suspend and distort reality to try and make a political point
“Democrats actually know how to govern”
You were saying
“Is Bipartisan in your usage code for do what ever will maximize Wall St bonuses?”
The debt ceiling has nothing to do with Wall Street.
It’s absurd that they are playing politics with it. Again.
Shameful.
Play politics with the budget and shut down the government. We’ve seen that before. But the debt ceiling?
Nah.
“Do you recall why and what Mnuchin had to give Pelosi to get her on board?”
The debt ceiling was raised 3 times during Trump’s Administration, with Senate Democrats voting for it every time.
What they are doing is shameful.
They cannot govern.
