Vintage 1-Bedroom Sells for Just Over the 2002 Price: 737 W. Brompton in Lakeview
We’ve chattered about this vintage 1-bedroom unit at 737 W. Brompton in Lakeview several times.
See our June 2010 chatter and pictures here.
It first came on the market in December 2009 and finally sold in July 2010.
In June, we debated whether it would sell for the 2002 purchase price of $195,000, but it ended up selling for $10,000 over.
The unit had lovely vintage features including a sunroom and dining room.
It had central air but no in-unit washer/dryer and no deeded parking.
The kitchen was also not updated and had white appliances.
Mary Ann Genellie at Prudential Rubloff had the listing.

Very nice. Great unit, price, assessment, and taxes. I’m a little jealous.
I’m jealous, too. It’s a beautiful apartment for the right price, and it’s larger than many two-bed units.
you guys think this is a good deal?

You missed the most important one:
“MOLD DISCLOSURE MUST BE SIGNED PRIOR TO ENTERING THIS UNIT.”
It’s a toxic waste site.
John: “Why is it so cheap???”
Mold! And the close proximity to the Behavioral Sciences Building at UIC. Walter Netch neatly embedded a bizarre psychological experiment into the design of this building. Go to the center of this building on the first day of classes, and see students nearly brought to tears trying to find their damn classes.
But you are close to the Vernon Park Tap…
