Vintage Chicago in a 1874 6-Bedroom Victorian at 341 W. Belden in East Lincoln Park

This 6-bedroom Victorian at 341 W. Belden in East Lincoln Park came on the market in May 2021.

Built in 1874, this single family home is on a larger than standard Chicago lot measuring 30 x 125.

It does not have a garage but does have 3 coveted parking spots behind the house on the alley.

The house doesn’t appear to have many of its vintage features other than bay windows, high ceilings and hardwood floors.

It has two gas fireplaces.

The kitchen has white cabinets, granite counter tops and luxury stainless steel appliances.

It has a formal dining room, a main floor family room and a second floor recreation room.

Three of the 6 bedrooms are on the second floor with the other three on the third floor, including the primary bedroom.

There’s a rooftop deck on the third floor.

The house has a landscaped backyard which includes gardens and a stone patio.

It also has central air and skylights.

This house is just 2 blocks to Lincoln Park and is near the Clark shops and restaurants.

Listed at $1.995 million, is this an ideal East Lincoln Park family home?

Joanne Nemerovski at Compass has the listing. See the pictures here (sorry- no floor plan.)

  1. Location – A+. Exterior – Gorgeous. Interior – Meh. Perfectly nice, but was expecting something pretty amazing.

No floor plan in a $2M listing is a crime against humanity. And 15 pictures of a 6 bed / 4 bath house is a travesty.

But a SFH in this location with parking and a yard – I guess the realtor doesn’t have to put in much effort.

It’s been listed over 60 days. Maybe they should have.

  3. Agree with Madeline

At $2MM, interior is completely underwhelming. Kitchen looks small

    And no pergola

  4. Awesome location and exterior. Great bones if you can get past the lack of garage and galley kitchen.

I think it seems particularly underwhelming since the current owner appeared to furnish/decorate minimally and on the cheap — the world market furniture and pier 1 art don’t come with the place.

A decent interior designer could make this place spectacular with some updated paint, rugs, and furnishings.

  5. If I were looking for a large townhome in ELP I’d put this on my list, but this listing is a joke. A $2 million home needs far more photos.

Also, the treadmill appears to be in a bedroom, though I guess that’s the “recreation room” according to the listing. Is there not a basement?
