Spiral staircase is a killer.
I don’t “love” triplex anythings… its like townhouse living in a condo building with the hassle of neighbors in every direction and an asanine condo association +assessments although these $406 a month assessments are extremely cheap for a unit of this size. So are the taxes…
I’m not a fan of spiral staircases either if you’re going to have so many levels.
I highly doubt this place goes for 750k, but then again this market is pretty crazy at the moment

Because that kitchen is frickin tiny, where else is the microwave going to go?

Literally and figuratively. If I were a mover giving a quote on a place, spiral staircase would immediately double the price. Also, I can’t imagine raising kids around one. So really, who is the target audience for this? Power couple with no intention of kids? Couple who had kids young so they are moved out of the house, but they themselves are not too old to deal with stairs?

Once your kids are all older than 4 or 5, doesn’t it become non-issue for them?
DZ – at four and five it becomes easier for a child to navigate however don’t underestimate that the kids will constantly be bringing stuff up and down the stairs. No..make that you….will be bringing stuff up and down the stairs case the kids will still be holding onto the rails out of fear.
Our cousins had one as a second access to their 2nd floor. I recall actually not liking that thing even at age 10.

Seriously? My son would love a spiral staircase. My main issue would be stopping him from climbing the outside.

not to mention — between the wood beam above that bed and the heating/air piping above that couch, well you need to find a loft lover who also enjoys low ceilings. and spiral staircases.

interesting place but also a bit of a mess.
I would have loved a spiral staircase as a kid. I would have ended up climb and sliding up and down the stairs.

It means the same thing as vintage, chef’s kitchen, etc…

The Hof pointed out the correct ‘standard’ meaning of vintage. Just bc realtors constantly misuse it doesn’t erase its meaning. Architecturally-significant also has a baona fide meaing, and this doesn’t get there.

When I think about a “chef’s kitchen,” I think about a very dirty kitchen and lots of yelling at underlings.
What if you are a professional chef and have 4 or 5 Mexicans living with you? I think then your kitchen would qualify as a chefs kitchen.

Not likely that this is targeted as a SFH alternative, because a 3/2 would need to be priced at $500K for that, not $750K which is the price of a SFH in many decent places. Roof deck and spiral staircase don’t scream “families”. Also while this location is near the L and some bars/restaurants, there’s not a decent park nearby. Nothing. Hamlin is too far for families to consider that their readily available green space.
There’s a nice park at Belmont and Damen – a little bit of a hike, but not too bad. There’s also a decent playlot at Addison and Lincoln/Ravenswood. In general, I would view this to be a family-friendly neighborhood.
That being said, there’s no way I’d pay $750k for a loft with painfully low ceilings in this neighborhood, or anywhere else. Plus I’d put on 10 pounds a month going to Scooter’s every day.
