What Does a Million Dollar Loft Look Like in the East Village? 835 N. Wood
This 2-bedroom loft in the Meter Building at 835 N. Wood in the East Village neighborhood of West Town recently came on the market.
It is a top floor authentic corner loft with exposed brick and timber ceilings along with large industrial windows and dark wood floors.
It has a custom kitchen with modern cabinetry, concrete counter tops, luxury stainless steel appliances, a wet bar and a built-in espresso machine.
The master suite has a dressing room/closet and a wet room style bath with a full wall of subway tile.
It has roof rights so you could build a rooftop deck.
The loft has all the features buyers look for including central air, a laundry room with in-unit washer/dryer and 2-car parking.
The listing says it is “over” 2400 square feet.
Listed at $1.25 million, it is the most expensive loft in the neighborhood currently on the market.
Can the East Village support the million dollar plus price point now?
Emily Sachs Wong at @Properties has the listing. See the pictures here.

I was expecting to be blown over by the design and incredible outdoor space! Still standing here.
The seller might not get a million dollars for this unit, but he’ll never know if he doesn’t ask!
Also, I know that’s probably custom cabinetry in all the rooms, but it looks so much like the fiberboard at Ikea that the layman can’t tell the difference…
Don’t like this area, for the money this is a joke, and a bad one at that. Nothing wrong with the place itself, it’s nicely done, but there are so many better choices at this price point.
I am way to vanilla to live in a place like this, very cool though, I can’t imagine how much they spent on the furniture alone… dayum
Only things that are strange to me are the square toilet and the rattan patio furniture, I really hate that rattan crap with a passion for some reason!!!! And was expecting a bit more done to the rooftop deck at this price point in this area
I bet it sells for at least 1.1
I love it when realtors include pictures of things that are not included in the property (e.g. the roof deck) as part of the listing.
Only place to keep the vacuum is in contact with clothes?
Or is that a clothes steamer?
Either way, not a great look re overall storage.
Good lord, what is the story with the parking? Tell me that space isn’t all for you? I would be interested for the simple fact that you could have a car collection. Not many options to do that in the city.
AC, I’m guessing that you have two spots like the listing says but that you also have access to the garage storage as if it were your own. so if you are a gearhead you can work on your car…or at this price point , have your man-servant work on your car.
Great place but absurdly priced for the location. I don’t even know what the right price would be for this area, but I am thinking roughly what they paid for it at the peak…..
Are there any comps in this neighborhood? There can’t be many million dollar lofts in whole the city.
For a million dollars, most people either want the whole building (SFH or maybe townhouse) or a significant amount of condo space in a building in a great location with a ton of amenities.
This loft is not screaming “great location” or “ton of amenities” to me.
A million doesn’t buy what it used to.
I was expecting something larger and better views (though the roof may have them). Something more like this…

I read an article that UK Village is the fastest growing neighborhood in the Country right now. So, anything is possible. I see a Coast transplant buying this unit. Or anyone with a square butt.
“I read an article that UK Village is the fastest growing neighborhood in the Country right now. ”
I believe Redfin put out that story last year.
“I read an article that UK Village is the fastest growing neighborhood in the Country right now. So, anything is possible. I see a Coast transplant buying this unit. Or anyone with a square butt.”
No, I think even a coast transplant is smart enough to realize this isn’t within prime bucktown or wicker park walking distance.
yes, that article is over a year old. UK kinda stalled a bit after that. I think west town has been growing much more rapidly.
“The East Village” is in New York, this is “East Village.” You can say “the East Village neighborhood” but it can’t stand alone with the definite article.
