  1. Yesterday’s unit should look at this place for simple updates. Painting the Pringles cabinets makes it looks less dreary and newer. Walk-in shower probably nice for some, but not me.

    I hate barn doors. Also, really only a one bed + den. Still better than yesterday’s. N

  2. Why not go w/ 801 which IMO is nicer and save $15k? (Not sure parking is inc’l)

    Kitchen wasn’t updated. Still has the top mount sink. Painting the cabinets isn’t enough to call it updated.

  4. 1501 ($510) and 1601 ($496.5) both sold over the summer. 1501 has a genuinely nicely updated kitchen (same footprint) and 16 is the top floor.

  6. I always thought this building and location was decent but other posters had a problem with the location which I never understood. Probably got my car washed a few doors down like 100 times before and it seemed like a pretty quiet street. Just lots of dog walkers and luxury cars waiting to get in the wash.

    The 3br units along the curve always seemed like a good deal, especially the penthouse.

    Designer lighting – LMFAO

    1/2 the terrace is a bad walkway.

    Almost feel bad for the owners as they’re going to lose a pretty good chunk of change

  11. I had a quirky realtor who would immediately comment on the kitchen sink in every property we viewed and am now super turned off by drop in sinks. Anyone else view drop-ins as a red flag indicating shoddy quality?

    Lauren: even if there is a tub in the second bathroom? You are just against walk-in-showers, in general or you want a tub in the primary bathroom?

    Do the condos that have the big soaking tub AND the walk-in-shower work better?

    Not everyone has a bathroom that big though. ha ha.

  14. I seriously looked at this building. Many of the higher floor units have amazing southeastern views. You’re close enough to some of the RN action, without being full on in it. The Chicago brown line is right there for easy transit. The surrounding area south is luxury & SF homes. Cabrini in the north has gotten much nicer too.

    This layout sucks though as does being on a lower floor. The 05 pie shaped layout is much better, but more $ (https://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/340-W-Superior-St-60654/unit-1205/home/12688561)

    Also with a smaller building that has a doorman the HOA is a bit high for just having a meh gym and nothing rooftop.

  15. Location has gotten better over the years, as more stuff around it. Decent location, preferable to Streertville because you can drive west on Chicago Ave and access the rest of the city and the Kennedy, or north to Clybourn.

    You need a car. There are no more taxis, Uber is a ripoff and unreliable, and whatever happened to the “Zipcar” revolution? Never took off.

    This building has an ugly exterior. The guy who developed it, his “schtick” was that he wore hip glasses with red plastic frames. Why are the balconies green? Terrible choice.

    I bet probably very well. With yoga studios curtailed due to covid and covid-crazies customers, what else do they think about? The store likely sold tons of Chardonnay and Trulys to the residents so they could watch Netflix.

    I am not against walk in showers in secondary bathrooms, but don’t like when there is only a shower in the primary. I totally fine with tub/shower combos if space is limited.

    Young people don’t like cars, HH. Uber just announced that they had their best week ever in the last week. Looks like they’re back in operation.

    There’s probably a Zipcar located in this building or right next door. Lol.

    I like how HH, who once claimed he lived in River West and went “out” to Au Cheval which “proved” he lived in Chicago, is mocking those who live a mile away in River North for buying wine and watching Netflix.
