I LOVE the white stained floors. First time I’ve seen that. Has anyone else tried it? How do they get it so white without painting it?
I’d really try that because I’m afraid to paint mine with the upkeep with the painting. But I would definitely stain them the lighter color if I could.

This is shiplap, but it’s also not. Shiplap is just slapping a bunch of wood up there and painting it. This actually IS reclaimed barn wood which elevates it quite a bit, in my book.
It’s a nice touch.
I also like the renovated master bathroom. What a transformation. It’s a little disappointing that they didn’t attempt to do anything to the second bath, not even a new vanity, counter top and mirror. If they had done that to match the rest of the unit, I think it would have been a more complete update.
Also, those interior windows are amazing. They look like antique windows and they match the aesthetic of the rest of the unit with the reclaimed wood walls.

This renovation blows away the 2017 unit. It’s not even close.

People paint hardwood floors all the time. If you have really old floors, it’s often cheaper than replacing them. But even if you use marine paint, it has wear and tear and is hard to maintain.
The listing says it is stained hardwood: “Soaring ceilings and expansive south facing windows with white stained hardwood floors.”
The 2017 listing has the nice yellow hardwoods. You would either paint them, or, apparently, stain them if you wanted to really lighten the space.
I know you can install the really light oak floors that look white, but this is the first I’ve heard of anyone actually staining them this light. How difficult is it?
Did anyone see them at the Open House last weekend?
If you do the 3D tour, you can see the grain of the hardwood so that’s definitely hardwoods.
But what’s the stain v painting it?
Also, in the 3D tour, it looks like the kitchen floor is a tile, perhaps? They had to extend the island and other things on the kitchen remodel so maybe they couldn’t save the wood floors in that area?

hate everything about this reno. way too much going on. when living in a brick and timber loft, it’s best to let those features shine. way too many competing textures and patterns (including art work) going on. Chicago brick and timber lofts with faux barn chic just doesn’t work.

It just said white flooring. Not sure if they stained the existing or what. I’m assuming they did though, now having seen this unit which looks similar.
I love it. But only in the “right” property with the dark exposed brick walls.

I think the kitchen floor is some kind of mat cut to fit the exact floor area. You can see and a cutting error by the refrigerator and dishwasher in the walkthrough. What does the floor look like below? Maybe the mat is there because the painted floor was wearing worse here.
I’m in the side of hating everything in the rehab. There is something un-urban in shiplap and barn inspired decor.
I am surprised the residents/photographer did not cover the gun safe. That doesn’t seem like something to advertise having.

Old floors can be beat up. Can’t refinish them again. Why not paint them? You don’t lose anything because you have to put in all new anyway. Many use marine paint which lasts longer.

Gun safes are the cheapest decent quality bigger safes you can buy. Having a gun safe doesn’t mean you have any guns.
You’re just making it up as you go.
Paint is less durable than stain. If you get any traffic it will look like crap and doesn’t clean as well. If you want that look high solids stain or cover it with LVP/T

You obviously have no clue that there is this app called “Pinterest.” Lots of people painting their floors, globally. See a lot of it in the Slavic nations where it’s dark for so many months. Their interior aesthetic is geared towards the light colors due to the light. They like the white/light floors and will paint them.
Many in America use the various marine paints. Can yellow if you aren’t watching what you seal it with. Some also use chalk paints like Annie Sloan. You will get the wear and tear with that though but if your floors are already that bad, who cares?
Also, plenty in the UK also painting their floors using the chalk paints.
