  1. Sadly part of real estate is a consumption decision, eg. how other people judge you by where you live. If the South Side had a few more Starbucks, a couple of Banana Republics/Gaps and a few smug restaurants then it could be a competitive alternative to the North Side.

alas, Chicago is ruled by the north-side-mafia who opine that if you live south of, say, 14th st, you’re either blue collar, African-American, Hispanic or a U.C. bohemian.

Make it 8 plasma TVs and rebuild it in a more desirable location and we got a deal.

  3. No, but I’m totally swayed by the tv mounted in the bathroom!

  4. The TV in the bathroom is mounted in the wrong place for me to watch whilst doing my business.

  5. How much could the total construction costs be for this place if it was only listed for 509K? Either they went incredibly cheap, have a razor thin margin (prob not), or the builder that just quoted me 850k (not including lot) for a 3800 sq ft. new const in Bucktown is on crack!

  6. Tipster I was thinking the same thing. They better have a TV on the adjacent wall also.

  7. HORRIBLE architectural flaw in the living room. What is wrong with the architects that they could not scale the windows to permit for a little space over them to make the ceiling seem higher, and to allow the covings to match. It wrecks the appearance of the living room.

    Fireplace is hideous,also, and misplaced.

A TV in the bath is too ludicrous.

  8. I agree with Tipster. Personally, the sheer idea of watching TV while engaging in ~serious business~ is a huge turnoff.
