We Love Secret Indoor Pools: 522 N. Ada in West Town

Behind the exterior of  this 2004-construction brick single family home at 522 N. Ada in West Town lies something you don’t see very often in Chicago- a private indoor pool.

The house is on a 25×169 ft lot and has a pool, spa and a covered lanai.

The house also has a gourmet kitchen with breakfast room and the usual stainless steel appliances.

But it’s the pool that is really unique about this property.

Maria Thanasouras at Jameson has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. Perfect example of a good idea with bad execution.

  2. i like the house. the location seems odd for 1.65 mil. they need to find a rich biker who loves the twisted spoke. piece of cake.

  3. I think it looks sorta nice… Although you could probably really hurt yourself if you were drunk and not paying attention in that room

  4. It would be cool if they knocked out the pool room, extended the pool a bit, and made that wall partially come down into the water so you could swim from inside to outside. And if it were a saltwater pool.

  5. Not bad, but there seems to be severe style disconnect when comparing the traditional kitchen, baths, and enthusiasm for chandeliers with the “modern lodge” appearance of the pool and landscaping. No way this will sell for more than $1.1 – $1.2MM with lots of marketing time given similar options (albeit without pools) in far better locations.

  7. I don’t think the price is inconsistent with the neighborhood – we’ve done quite a few SFH in that price range. I would be surprised to see a comparable SFH with such proximity to the loop in this price range. Than you consider how unique the property is, and the luxury finishes through out the house (http://www.smartfloorplan.com/il/v291980) I think the price is pretty reasonable.

  11. That pool is AWESOME! Much rather swim there than in my dirty health club’s pool. What a cool house!

  12. I just saw this house in person. In the wintertime, this home must feel like an Aspen ski lodge. Who needs a second home when you have amenities like an indoor pool, a beautifully landscaped yard, and so much open space and light. To compare this home to any other you’ve seen would be short sighted. Check it out in person!

  13. It is more than just a great pool; it is an amazing home! This house would be double the price in Lincoln Park and is in a neighborhood that is much cooler, safer and less congested. Plus Coal Fire and Bella Notte are awesome and a just a block away. What a great place to live!

  14. Wow — a secret pool! I live across the street and enjoy the lovely garden out in front but I never would have guessed their secret. Very cool. And in such a great neighborhood, minutes away from downtown, awesome restaurants, close to the expy. Now my fantasy is to add my own private pool to that mix. I want to move across the street!
