A Renovated 6-Bedroom Classic Brick Bungalow in West Ridge: 2225 W. Lunt

This 6-bedroom brick bungalow at 2225 W. Lunt in West Ridge just came on the market (sorry- no picture but given the tightness of the market I wanted to post on it).

Built in 1923, it has 3620 square feet and a 3-car garage. The size of the lot isn’t listed.

The listing says it’s “completely remodeled.”

The kitchen has the current popular look with white cabinets, white counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

There are dark hardwood floors on the main floor.

It doesn’t appear that there are any of the original vintage features remaining.

The listing says the basement could be an in-law suite. It currently has a family room and 2 of the 6 bedrooms.

The master bedroom and another bedroom are on the second floor with two of the other bedrooms on the main floor.

The listing says tuck pointing and a new roof were done in April 2019.

The house has central air.

It’s come on the market at $679,000 after selling in 2017 for $200,000.

Is this price now the new reality for renovated homes in this far north side neighborhood?

Pauline Atou-Elia at Century 21 has the listing. See the pictures here.

  1. Nice looking place with great curb appeal, but I’d like to see a lot more photos in the listing. I’m also not so sure about the neighborhood. We had friends who lived close to here but decided to move – they felt the area was getting a bit sketchy. Perhaps that’s not really an issue. But nearly $700,000 is a lot to pay for a bungalow in WRP. I know it has 6 bedrooms, but some are in the basement, and bungalows are never known for their roominess upstairs.

Basically, the 3,600 SF sounds amazing when you see it, but you have to factor in a lot of that space being in the basement and a lot being on the second floor with possible low ceiling heights.

  2. I am not sure who the market is for this. Cute exterior though.

  3. Another gutted bungalow with the exact same interior as every other place, yawn. Giant picture window doesn’t look right. House used to have a cool tiled roof, as seen on Google Maps.

  4. But kudos for not destroying the roofline with an ugly pop-up addition.

Much prefer 2138 W Estes that recently sold home in the same area for $585k. There are a few SFH in the immediate area hovering around $700k, and looks like they’ve been sitting for months.
