  1. I’d have a tough time settling in a neighborhood named after a notorious cemetery. Though I suppose the benefit is that you’d never have to leave.

Hope it was multiple bids/escalation/no contingencies. If not, as a seller, I might be upset.

  4. Three feet short of a standard city lot, no backyard and $15,000 in taxes. Within walking distance is an Americash Loan, a subway and Dunkin’. for this price, I’d almost rather live a house walking distance from a suburban downtown like this instead:

It’s a lovely neighborhood. You need to get out more, HD. You probably haven’t been to Graceland West in 30 years if you’re googling it to see where the Dunkin Donuts is.

Also, you can just feel the irritation in your comment HD. That you can’t believe that people haven’t turned against the big city despite the pandemic and the looting. That people STILL love the city and want to be in it. That they’re willing to pay a million dollars, and more, to live there.

    You can’t STAND it.

Because it flies in the face of all that you have espoused on this blog for the last 10 years.

Urban living is here to stay. GenX loves it. Millennials still love it, despite the pandemic. And GenZ is coming up the ranks quickly.

Chicago rents are back to pre-pandemic highs again, by the way, one of the few cities which can say that.

  9. How do you know they are leaving??

Kids could be out of the house, and downsizing. They’ve owned it for (almost) 6 years–that’s not unusually short.

Maybe taking the opportunity to get a decent deal on a downtown condo.

  10. “this family is likely leaving”

It’s pretty evident that there is a couple that is *maybe* leaving the city.

And the kids are doing what kids who don’t live in mom’s basement do.

  11. Anontfo, Dunkin’ Donuts changed their brand name to just Dunkin’. Sabrina still called it the old name, I corrected her.

  12. Rest assured HH, wherever the owners move, they’ll remember to bring their liberal politics and their We Believe yard sign.

None of you know anything and stop acting like you do.

    My god.

I will remove any comments discussing it further.

It’s gone! Vacant, and sign flipped around last time I drove by.

And this one closed over ask at $1,025,000.
