Lakeview House With “Underground Tunnels” Reduces $11K: 3526 N. Marshfield

We last chattered about this 4-bedroom home at 3526 N. Marshfield in Lakeview in March 2012

See our prior chatter here.

I thought this house might sell quickly given its price and location.

However, after 48 days on the market it has reduced $11,000.

If you recall, the house was built in 1889. It is on an irregular lot measuring 27.2×73.5x60x51.5 (I think???).

The listing says the house is being sold “as-is.”

All four bedrooms are on the second level and there is a family room in the basement.

The kitchen has dark cabinets and white appliances as well as a kitchen island.

The listing also says there are “ornately carved faces” on the exterior brick and “underground tunnels.” Alas, there are still NO pictures of the tunnels in the listing.

The house has central air and 1-car parking (I don’t know if it’s a parking spot or a garage).

What price will it take for this house to find a buyer?

David Bovyn at Kale Realty has the listing. See the pictures here.

Why the hell are “underground tunnels” being used as a selling point? Can someone please put a positive spin on this for me?

Also, if you are going to try and upsell the fact that this used to be “owned by a local celeb” maybe you should take the time and stage the place – or don’t take and post photos of the sh*tty rental tenant’s furniture?

These pictures/this place is so terrible that it is boarderline libel to the local celeb that used to own this place.

  4. All things being equal, if I had a choice between having underground tunnels and not having them, I would opt for the underground tunnels.

  5. Why are the underground tunnels, clearly the primary selling feature on this home, not photographed?

  7. Underground tunnels led to the great downtown flood of 1992. Now that was a funny moment in time! I recall Kenny construction becoming the local hero’s that plugged the hole. Unless there is a pot of gold down there I’ll pass on those secret tunnels.

I know of multiple people with underground tunnels under their property. It’s called a sewer and it says AT&T or City of Chicago on the manhole.

    2% price cut? Really? next.

  12. Allison Rosati’s tunnels have no effect on todays buyers. Now if they were Cheryl Scott’sI’d bet that there would be a line around the block of 30 year old guys.
