Love Turrets? A 2-Bedroom with 19 Windows at 1024 W. Armitage in Lincoln Park

This 2-bedroom at 1024 W. Armitage in Lincoln Park came on the market in July 2021.

Built in 1890, the building has 5 units.

It’s on the corner of Armitage and Kenmore and has a garage on Kenmore.

There’s extra storage in the building’s basement.

This unit is a second floor south and west corner unit with a turret sitting area.

The listing says it has 19 windows.

It also says it was “recently remodeled.”

It doesn’t appear to have many of its original vintage features but it does have a fireplace and hardwood floors throughout.

The eat-in kitchen has white cabinets, honed marble counter tops with a double oven.

The dining room has a bay window.

The listing says both bathrooms have been remodeled with Grohe fixtures and white subway tile.

The primary bedroom is en suite and also has a small office, with a window, that leads to a 12×5 private balcony.

The unit has the features buyers look for in 2021, including central air, washer/dryer in the unit and one garage parking space is included plus a parking pad space for a second car.

This building is located right in the middle of shops and restaurants on Armitage, is a few blocks to the shops and restaurants on Clybourn and is near the Brown Line El stop.

It this a dream unit for a vintage lover?

Jordan Chalmers at Baird & Warner has the listing. See the pictures and floor plan here.

  1. Sorry, but for some reason this didn’t publish this morning.

As it’s so late in the day, I probably won’t put out a new post tomorrow.

  2. Weird that there’s a large split in the back office

Great layout and place could be really cool but the stained Floors really f’d it up. That turret would be a great place to read.

This is priced like its not on a busy street.

  3. Pleasant enough with nice finishes and a great location. Good that the BRs aren’t on the Armitage side. Doesn’t seem “massive” to me, but you don’t often get a full DR and an eat-in kitchen, plus a small office. There’s a to like.

However, living above stores is one demerit. So is the lack of any vintage features. Still, it might sell for near asking.

  4. Lovely staging. I can easily imagine placing my furnishings here. My plants would certainly create better energy.

The millennials that reside here most have put their plants in a closet to avoid clutter.

  5. “Are GenZ/Mil allergic to plants?”

Based on the explosion of plant shops around, not at all.

This place got a very serious decluttering/cleaning, and the kitchen floor still looks obviously worn in the pix. Gotta have a counter-depth fridge, as that one sticking out looks awful, as does the cheap dishwasher.

Corner of the kitchen ceiling–smoke detector, separate CO detector(?) and…what?

“Weird that there’s a large split in the back office”

I first thought it was reclaimed ‘porch’ space, but then looked more carefully–that is really weird, especially its size for such a small room–makes me think that the main HVAC doesn’t serve the BR too well, either.

  6. The coach house under the balcony is a prior CC feature:

A little bit of green would be a good offset to the dark stained floors and help undo some of the dreary-ness

  9. This condo is beautiful and in a great location. Nice vintage building with high ceilings but with all of the features and colors that buyers want. I used to live down the street and recall the CC posts on other units in the building. Young buyers don’t care about a separate dining room and prefer open space. Price seems high for a 2/2.
