  8. Yeah, Lakeview is sooooooo 5 years ago. Niles, Morton Grove, Skokie, that’s where it’s at now! All the grown-ups live there now. Room for baby and the mid-level mini van too!

  10. The demographic that lives in Lincoln Park/Lakeview is largely a younger version of the demographic that resides on the North Shore. An attempt to imply that someone living off Belmont is less of a Home Depot drone than someone in Glenview is absurd. Those same big box crapfests are all over the North Side, complete with free mega-parking for your SUV.

  12. I could see this moving at about 365. I love that it has its own entrance, that would be a big plus to me and it seems like a decent size. I don’t live too far away, so obviously I think the neighborhood is great.

  13. This looks very nice and I like the location, but I wouldn’t dream of paying this much for what looks like so many rental units in the area. I predict the price has some dropping to do.

  14. For a unit of this size those assessments are way too low.
    If you’re considering buying, check the reserves, budget and P&L.
    Ask what repairs are coming up and if they fund those through special assessments.

  19. Oh God, bbby reminds me of our friend’s wife and they both induce similar stress levels. The dude is from our fantasy football league. He recently married a woman who hates all of us and makes no secret of it. Wolfman and I walked into their wedding reception and she literally looked directly at us, turned the other way and pretended she didn’t see. A friend turned to me and said “have you ever been to a wedding where you just knew it wasn’t going to work out? Is that a terrible thing to say?” The wife never comes out for beers. She’s always at bbby spending up his money! Every time. How is it possible? How much crap could you possibly need? She made him throw out a brand new leather couch she didn’t approve of in favor of something she picked out. The dude had dated her twice before and dumped her both times. Then all of a sudden it was like a male biological clock took over and he recycled her a third time. Then they bought a $3,000 dog from a puppy mill and then next thing we knew they were married and are talking about kids.

  20. The neighborhood isn’t half bad when the Cubs suck. So it’s been great for a few yrs and should remain that way for the next several. Seriously, the first several months of the season hardly any fans around and mid summer, the obnoxious fans don’t linger at all the bars (aside from Clark St) when they lose. This is why I love when the Cubs stink.

    It’s okay. We didn’t want to talk to her anyway.
    It was the most awkward, un-fun wedding I’d been to.
    There were 2 distinct crowds which did not mix.
    The bride’s which were uptight fashion people.
    And the groom’s which were rockers from Brooklyn.
    I was the ONLY one dancing. All night.
    Towards the end when everyone was drunk, the best man gave a long speech to the groom which consisted mostly of “I love you, man” with zero references to the bride.
    The groom’s brother sat there playing video games, face-planted in the table and went to sleep.
    Then the groom snapped out of his alcohol-coma, realized there was a ring on his finger and started violently shaking his hand trying to flick it off saying “What is this? I don’t like it!”

Sounds like the kind of wedding crowd, that in previous eras, would have ended up with a fight between members of the bride’s side and members of the groom’s side, as hilariously described by legendary columnist Mike Royko . Wow, today’s Chicagoans are wussy – can’t even throw a good wedding brawl!

    All parties involved are New Yorkers and the wedding was in DUMBO in Brooklyn.
    To bring it back to real estate…
    The groom got his MBA at the University of Chicago but hates Chicago and tells me to rent out my in-town with disgust every time I see him.
    The bride bought a 2/2 at the Toren – a hideous abortion of a high-rise condo in downtown Bklyn at the height of the market.
    She was sleeping with the developer’s son during one of her breakups from her now husband.
    She was bragging that he gave her a deal at 750K, haha!
