Return to the “Old” River North in This 3-Bedroom Loft: 208 W. Kinzie

208 w kinzie

This 3-bedroom full floor authentic loft at 208 W. Kinzie in River North just came on the market.

We’ve chattered about this unique 5-unit building in the past. See our chatter about Unit #4 in 2010 here.

This loft is 1550 square feet with brick and timber and exposed ductwork.

The freight elevator opens directly into the loft.

It has central air but no parking.

There’s a washer/dryer in the unit and the listing says it has a “full kitchen” which has white cabinets and appliances.

In a flashback to the way things used to work in River North, this is a live/work space so you can legitimately run a business out of it.

Who’s the target buyer for this loft now that everything else in the neighborhood has been turned into solely residential or solely commercial space?

Sharon Tuckman at Berkshire Hathaway KoenigRubloff has the listing. See the pictures here.

  2. Interesting place… The walls in the bathroom don’t go to the ceiling. I don’t know how anyone could live like that.

The assessments seem very low for an old building and would give me cause for concern.

  3. I’d buy that in a second if it had a parkig space, but I guess there’s that lot behind it which may get developed, might hurt the lighting in this place. Love the shamrock club though, coldest beers in town I think! Haven’t been in a while…

  4. Are you kidding me about the taxes? That seems awfully high.

  7. Place should’ve been decluttered before photographing. Great location though, I’m sure some tech clown in his late 20’s making 6figs will buy this and try to resell 2-3 years down the road for 200k+ more. Lack of parking and full second bathroom are deal breakers though. Maybe squeeze in a small shower in the half bath?

Tim, how much is Berkshire paying you to pimp this place?

  8. Elliot,
I know nothing about Berkshire and find your comment to be very rude and insulting. You can disagree with my opinion and that is fine, but do not insult my integrity.

All I did was express my personal take on this place. No need to insult me or accuse me of any unsavory intent.

    Tim

  9. Tim,

Welcome to Cribchatter. I agree with you that it’s a cool place, not so much on the latter. Start developing thicker skin.
