The Haberdasher Square Lofts is one of those loft buildings that has some concrete lofts and some timber lofts depending on the location in the building.

This unit is on the concrete side. Those dark 12 foot ceilings are painted concrete ceilings.

At 1429 square feet, the loft has the original matchstick floors.

The kitchen has white appliances, white cabinets and granite counter tops.

There is also the coveted side-by-side washer/dryer in its own laundry room.

The loft has central air and a balcony along with a tandem parking spot (which is extra.)

It is listed for $5,000 under the 2004 purchase price.

Is this a deal?

  1. We don’t love this loft at all. So few windows. Great for folks with sun allergy (aka vampires).

  2. There is actually pretty decent light in here I feel. The partial wall in master hurts quite a bit also but it DOES have room for a dining table! YAY!

    300k w/parking.

  3. maybe i am naive but why would you paint a ceiling darker than the wall color?

ist it so the diesel soot from having your windows open and living on 90/94 wont be noticeable?

wouldn’t a normal ceiling color “brighten” up the place?

  4. I must add that the price looks good for the space. I just don’t like this type of loft.

  5. not to be a nit picker, but if these guys were “so serious” about selling your place, you’d think they would go the extra mile to change the burned out light bulb in the bathroom. Decent deal though, I love the greektown area

I would just market it as multiple bathrooms If I were a realator… There is a tub and 2 showers(all in one place).

“It’s another tub in the shower.”

Can we also address the photos proudly displaying the expressway and line of balconies? This tells me A) too close to the xpy(thanks for the honesty) and B) this realtor wanted to have an artistic moment while not conveying any relevant information.

  11. The sign above the fireplace (For Like Ever) says it all

“maybe i am naive but why would you paint a ceiling darker than the wall color? ”

    to hide the duct work.

  12. “that tub in the shower is odd. is that common?”

It’s been common on CC in the last week.

Sabrina–have you been seeking them out, or is it just chance?

  13. I like the units in this building. I’ve looked at one in the past. However, the assesments are crazy high, even though there is an indoor basketball court.

  14. Have the current owners pretty much ruined that ceiling? Is there any way to get it back to the original condition?

  15. Sonies,

A lot of times the photographer takes out a bulb so the bathroom photographs better.

why would they take out one of 8 light bulbs?

  20. I actually like the dark ceiling since it hides the ductwork and I think it works since the ceilings are so high. Also, I’m a fan of the separate shower and tub… saw it in a magazine once… kind of a cool way to get a lot of use in one room.

  21. Assys aren’t that high for a 1500 sq ft 2/2 conversion loft, seen a lot worse.

Drop that 12′ ceiling if u could get permit approved for fire protection.

Don’t forget the Eisenhower aka I 290. And you may as well throw in coal soot from the Fisk plant also.

    “Is this a deal?”

Not yet, I’m guessing it goes for $280k with parking.

  24. Saw this place over the weekend. It’s beautiful.

Not sure about some of the criticism here.

‘Sonies’, are you a dwarf? Why all the static over a light bulb? Is it because it is exceedingly difficult for you to tackle such height oriented tasks? But, you did say you were excited about the basketball court. I’m guessing you put a trampoline down and hit sweet jams all day long. So adorable when dwarves do that.

  25. I love this building, but hate the location (right on the expressway), and I’m not crazy about this unit.

  26. So can someone explain what you get for a $70/month assessment on your parking space? Are they going to repaint the lines every month? This is not the only place where I’ve seen these type of assessments but give me a break – $840/yr.?

  27. Heat, electricity, door maintenance, power-washing & other cleaning, paint, insurance elevator common area maintenance, etc? does seem a bit steep but for “two” spots not out of this world.

This is of course assuming that it is heated, indoor parking and not outdoor parking. I have one spot and the assessments are like $35 a month, taxes another $30

  28. Japanese bath! How high end. I like the dark ceilings – makes the ceilings seem taller and hides ductwork and conduit.

Japanese bath-style. Not really accurate, is it?
