West Loop Vintage Rowhouse Reduces $30K: 25 S. Oakley
We last chattered about this 3-bedroom vintage rowhouse with good bones in the West Loop near the United Center at 25 S. Oakley in March 2009.
See our prior chatter here.
It had been a foreclosure in October 2007.
Originally listed last December, it recently reduced by $30,000.
The listing says it has been completely gutted. There are marble tiles in the kitchen and baths.
Jake Sapstein at D’Aprile Realty has the listing. See the pictures again here.

“Nice place…but this nabe is pretty rough, right?”
Oh-oh.
Check the prior chatter. Lots of discussion of the nabe.
G to the H E double T O!!!!!!!!
LOL Missed the previous discussion….
JPS,
You also missed my crime stats by demographic comments which were removed. But maybe paulj can be the urban pioneer here and prove everybody wrong (and continue to shout ‘raciss!’)
Too bad house moving is such a pain.
Foreclosure was filed in March on the $291,900 mortgage. The owner is a regular land baron with three foreclosures filed against him in 2009. If you like this unit then my suggestion is to wait for the REO sale in the $200’s later this year.
In the previous chatter there was comparison of this property to a property on the 700 block of S. Oakley. Even though this would only be a few blocks away it is a completely different neighborhood. It is on the other side of I-290. And a 6-lane highway does make a world of difference.
I lived near by in Little Italy from 2000-2004. This UC/West Haven neighborhood has changed since that time but it is still not a desireable place to live.
Here the link to Google Maps satelite view: you can see all the vacant lots:

The house itself looks nice but the neighborhood is to DIE for
What? Oakley is now the “West Loop”. Jesus Christ, these buggers are shameless.
