What did you see at today’s open houses?

Did anyone brave the downpours and go to some open houses this weekend?

How about 1647 N. Sedgwick in Old Town- the unit that seems to “have it all” and appears to be priced correctly?

Was  the rooftop deck really a rooftop deck?

  1. I’m embarrassed to admit the rain kept me away… I figured I wouldn’t have anywhere to park! Lame, I know…

  2. I was there and there was a lot of foot traffic. The unit does have a private roof deck; however, you have to go outside to access the stairs to it.

How were the sizes of the bedrooms then?

Kenworthey- I can’t believe the rain kept you away from your dream unit. ha!

  4. Remember it was Bob’s (?) dream unit, not mine! I did like it a lot, though. 🙂 Still, I’m pretty resolved not to buy this summer anyway, so it was probably best not to tempt myself!

  5. Hi everyone,

The bedrooms were ok sized but no views. The larger had a queen bed in it and the 2nd had a full or perhaps queen bed. I love roof decks but can’t walk too many stairs at my age… This was a walk up….Yes, my dream location but not practical for me. Good closets overall and I believe storage came with it.

  6. Thanks for the update Millie. The stairs can be an issue for some people.

  7. ‘Hey, now’

Street festivals kept me away from it (Ribfest to be exact). But I’m not in the market to own anytime soon. So I don’t goto open houses.

Yeah I almost perfectly dodged the rain today: ran errands before the mid-afternoon storms and smirked. Walked to the streetfest which was 2 1/2 miles away and was 2 1/4 miles back when it started pouring! Bleh..next time.

  8. I hit a few open houses over the weekend, but I wound up only having time to see several Lakeview and LP townhouses that I’ve been wanting to check out for a while. I’m kind of “over” condo living at the moment and I fell out of love with this place in old town as soon as I reminded myself that for just a little more, I could buy a great townhouse in Lakeview. Every time I go in a townhouse, I think, “Yes, this is exactly what I want. No one above or below me. The freedom to fix whatever needs fixing without worrying about the logistics of it all…and the ability to get away from whatever is happening in the rest of the house by moving to a different floor.” But maybe that’s just me.

  9. Danny:

There IS something quite nice about townhouse living, that’s for sure.

There are quite a few that are more affordable than you think.

The one I profiled on Lincoln that is 2/2 with a garage is still available for $389,000. (That one is in LP, not Lakeview.)
