Your London Rowhouse Awaits: 3825 N. Alta Vista in Lakeview

This 6-bedroom rowhouse at 3825 N. Alta Vista just came on the market and is one of the larger ones we’ve chattered about on historic Alta Vista in Lakeview.

The street is loved by many for its vintage rowhouses all built around the turn of last century and meant to mimic London rowhouses. It is a landmark district.

This rowhouse has all the bells and whistles with central air and a 1-car attached garage.

The kitchen and bathrooms appear to be updated as well. The kitchen has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

The rowhouse also has a back second floor deck and skylights.

The 6-bedrooms are scattered on the second and third floors.

  1. Beautiful house. Well done listing! Tons of pictures and a floorplan.

I *somewhat* question 6BR’s. Sure, you can just use them as an office/hobby room/play room/whatever as you see fit, but one of my (future, hopefully) criteria for a big and expensive house is a second open area for a home theater. 🙂 Still, 6BR’s would be nice if you have 3-4 kids and can then have a space for guests or said office/hobby/play room.

  2. Deceptively cramped and awkward layout for a seemingly attractive 6-bedrm house.

  3. Locationlocationlocation…just an out-of-the-park homer from Wrigley Field! And yes, one of the prettiest streets in town!

  4. Cool pad, good size, reasonable price, just not my style.

I lived in Wrigley several years ago and my building had to close and resurface the garage deck. They arranged to rent a parking lot from the Cubs. We were shuttled back and forth to get our cars for three or four weeks. Multiple individuals that lived on Alta Vista actually called down to the alderman and asked that our drivers not use the street for the shuttle vans that went by three times an hour. Apparently they believe that Alta Vista is a private lane. What a bunch of arrogant snobs!

  5. Beautiful!
No outdoor space is a bummer though… I can’t believe that this will sell for $900K, seeing as the one down the street just sold for $665K and has outdoor space. Not 6 bedrooms though. Am I the only one who thinks the main floor floorplan is a little odd? I’d still buy it if I could!

  6. I’m with Architect.

Row houses are deceptively cramped. To add to this place’s size woes, the third floor isn’t full sized.

I’m a four story row house man. Three stories with a basement? Ehhhhh…

Price seems right though. If this was in ELP or GC it would be at least twice as much.

  7. Beautiful home, beautiful street, a dream for Europhiles who haven’t managed to get that expat package to London they’ve been gunning for. However, the location 2 blocks from Wrigley is a HUGE drawback for people over the age of 25 and/or not into the sports and bar-hopping scene, and I think that’s what’s keeping the price low.

  8. what is the huge empty area just west of this house; bordered by Racine, Grace, Seminary, & south of the cemetary?
Is that part of the cementary? I was looking at the Bing bird-eye view and this empty land jumps out.
    -thanks

  11. Tom

This was the lot that our building had rented during our project. you can see why the shuttles used Alta Vista. I believe that it is mainly used for the Cubs season ticket holders as homedelete suggested. The joke was that we had to wait until the World Series was over to schedule our project just in case next year had happened that year…..sadly it did not!

  12. Doesn’t that vacant lot belong to the convent?

That’s right folks – on Grace St. near Racine there’s a CONVENT that rents out parking spaces on game days, and of course the nuns dedicate the Mass of the day to a Cubs victory. Honest.

  13. I wish that master bath was a bit bigger and the garage could hold another car. Approaching that million dollar mark, I’d definitely want both of those things, but I can see somebody falling in love with this place.
