A 3-Bedroom Loft Townhouse for $1.1 Million at 1335 W. Altgeld in Lincoln Park

This 3-bedroom townhouse in the Piano Factory Lofts at 1335 W. Altgeld in Lincoln Park came on the market in June 2022.

Built in 1939, the Piano Factory Lofts has 15 units and attached garage parking.

The townhouse has loft features included exposed ductwork, timber ceilings and exposed brick walls.

This listing says it has been “completely and thoughtfully renovated” and has all new windows, lighting, doors, bathrooms, kitchen and decks along with a sourced vintage fireplace mantel.

The chef’s kitchen has dark black (gray?) cabinets and stone counter tops along with a “massive” island, stainless steel appliances and a walk-in coffee bar or pantry.

All three bedrooms are on the second level along with the 2 full baths. The primary suite is en suite and also has a walk-in-closet.

The top floor, or penthouse, level has a wet bar with a Subzero fridge along with 3 decks.

The townhouse has skylights and pocket doors.

It comes with the features buyers look for including central air, washer/dryer in the unit and one garage parking space.

The listing says it’s in the Oscar Meyer school district.

Listed at $1.1 million, is this townhouse a good choice for those who still desire the loft style of living but need more space and desire the privacy of the different levels?

Clare Spartz at @Properties has the listing. See the pictures and floor plan here.

  1. Nicely done renovations a few things in the kitchen I’d do differently but still very nicely done

However for $1.1MM misses a few things

    2 Parking spots
The lit tennis & BB courts could limit the usefulness of the outdoor space.

Also think staging the LR would help a ton

  2. Kind of a mishmash of different styles but that might be due to the furniture more than the permanent design elements. It’s a lot of space with a good layout, so I’d guess it sells close to ask.

I like that the listing describes the 3rd floor as “the penthouse Level”, because words don’t have actual meanings.

TBF, it is an extra thing built on the roof of an existing building, and thus consistent with the M-W definition:

1 a: a shed or roof attached to and sloping from a wall or building
b: a smaller structure joined to a building : ANNEX
2 : a structure or dwelling on the roof or top floor of a building

Agree…I like this place but not a fan of any of the furniture and it takes away from the space. Thankfully, it goes. The lighting is a bit of a mess as well.
