The listing says it has a “newer kitchen” and the basement is partially finished with a full bathroom and an extra kitchen.

  1. Really like the interior, but *hate* the location. While not the worst location in Uptown, it’s far from the best. And being right next to the driveway for the parking garage (and the garage itself) is a real downer.

Also, can you call two attached houses a “row”? I’d think you need at least three for it to be a row.

  2. Isn’t this basically neighbors with all the hospitals getting news lately about all the felons they’re housing? Great neighbors!

Regardless, it’s a nifty looking place.

  4. Beautiful! BUT… no a/c (my husband wouldn’t even consider it), no parking, and the neighborhood is not great-can’t walk anywhere. But I love thats it’s close to the lake. I wonder if you could add parking if it has a yard?

Oh, just saw on street view it’s the end, right next to a parking garage for a high rise, don’t know if I’d like my windows looking out to that. Still, so pretty inside.

  6. Talk about over-improving. I guess it’s not *the* worst location in Uptown, but it’s close.

Gorgeous place for sure, tho. What a staircase.

But, umm, what’s with the teapots? Urns?

Until the streetfights move over from Sheridan/Leland, it won’t even have an arugment for worst.

  8. I love the Wilson el stop. IT’s my favorite on the entire north side, other than Howard of course.

You might be able to find some drugs around the corner of this place to help you accomplish that

  11. homedelete,at least the Howard el stop was completely rebuilt.

So take it off your “fave” list and replace it with the Jarvis or Lawrence stops.

Wilson, Lawrence, and Jarvis are the 3 grottiest el stops on the north end of the Red Line.

the wilson single-handily has more crazies than all chicago put together.

I do miss the wilson train yards. did a lot of graff on the trains parked there.

  14. I beleive the 148 Exoress Bus picks you up on the clorner of Claredon and Windsor and takes you downtown. I would take that instead of the el from this location.

It is a crappy part of Uptown for sure. Its creepy over there, you need garage parking. The place is overpriced I think.

Also, I know you guys will think I am crazy, but I kinda LIKE the Wilson El stop. It has an old school Chicago grittyness to it… and you can find the occasional sage walking around, saying “whose a playa? Whose a playa? Whose a playa?”

  16. Man… I really miss the crazies on the Red Line. Pure entertainment. Much better than the thug element I deal with on the Green line.

  18. I used to get off at Wilson every night in the early 90’s after 12am.

    Always an adventure.

  19. The Morse stop at night is my least favorite. Its so quiet there, so many crazies hanging around… at least its well policed with a squad car going by every 5 minutes.

  20. Only a couple blocks from Leland and Sheridan. I’d say it could justifiably called the same general area (Montrose to Lawrence, east of Broadway), and if so, about the worst of Uptown . Leland is (or at least used to be, back in my day) the gang dividing line b/t Folks and Vice Lords, so I suppose that’s a little worse right there. Anyway, this area has crazies, vagrants, litter, some gangbanging, hospitals, half-way houses….lotta things going against it.

And, FWIW, I agree with Jason the Wilson stop has a certain urban gritty interest/charm (it kinda feels NY-ish, for example, dontchathink?), and a hell of a mix of people – students, refugees, yuppies going west, crazy preachers, ghetto poets, vendors, graff writers, etc.

and paying for mayor daley graff blasters, the current CTA deficit and pensions of the paint sniff dogs. (well that last one factor in the dogs short life span)

Dont worry karma got me back for my bad teen behavior.

  23. I tried to see if there was anything this expensive in the area, and didn’t find anything besides 2 large multi-units.

    Until I found….this!: http://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/928-W-Agatite-Ave-60640/unit-1W/home/12743855

800k!!!! Local school listed, in what I assume is just more ridiculous error as opposed to deliberate fabrication, as Blaine.

The person trying to sell that thing for $800k now is exactly the type of person to buy a $435k duplex down in Uptown in 2001. It’s basically right next to Lakeview, I’ll be a millionaire in a few years!!

  31. Nice rowhouse. Kitchen is lovely. So many nice things about the house. There are several express lines running downtown. Too bad about the location. That’s going to kill the sellers. Where would one price this to sell quickly? $350-375K? Who to target as buyers?
